if i turn the firewall off everything is ok.

mail in and out if firewall is off nothing in or out if it is on.

Its the firewall thats buggering it up then!

- What firewall do you use?

Also you browser is the program that allows you to browes the web, in your case microsofts's internet exploer (or IE to its friends)

- Others are Mozzila/FireFox, Opera, and Netscape.

Also, if worst comes to worse, tyr and find somone who will sort it for you, eather a 'techy' frend/relative/nabour, or a small/local PC outlet.

Gaggle,

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Norton Internet Security package?

I used to use it myself, but it's a hell of a drain on your system. Maybe it's worth looking into some other solution to the security side of things?

i have finally given up the ghost on norton internet security.

demanded a refund they say ok but the stuff on my system that has gone up the wall is major.

i am just off to see a mate about saving stuff, like all my music files pics and stuff like that before i do a full recovery disc thing.

i have done that once before and that recovery will be a doddle to what i have had to go through with norton helpline, that was a complete waste of time.

i got my mooring friday and could not have been happier and then this computer went haywire and to top that the boat can,t go in tomorrow, nothing major wrong but a bit of a downer anyway.

later anyway
