these are not reflected below.

So the 1956 vintage HRW3 in here probably isn't then!

Err NO !

Bit like the 1945 FR2 I was asked to look at one, I then explained to the owner that the FR range was not created till after the war as FR stood for Freedom of Restriction !

Red faces at the other end of the phone...

Whenever you say the word 'definitive' there's always someone!

That list was complied by Lister's and Petter's over the years of production

So I would say definitive in this case

A couple of oddities strike me:-

That suggests there was a gap of 7 or 8 years when the JP had ceased production before its uprated successor , the JK, was introduced. Also that the JS was only produced as a 3-cyl, and the 616 (basically a JP6) was only introduced at the same time as the rest of the JP range was discontinued.

Of course the Petter AS dates will only cover the time after they took over the Armstrong brand, I think they were first introduced about 1948.

I'll hazard a guess that the FR was supposed to replace the JP in their range but wasn't an outstanding success, so the tried & trusted JP was brought back as the JK to keep customers happy. Maybe?

A bit like the original Canalstar which AIUI was brought in (or back!) to pacify people (hire fleets) who liked the SR but not the horrible noisy rattly ST
