Appearently it was a Piper Cheroke, not a microlight. Not that much to add to the incident really, accept my mate witnessed it. He says the plane was flying striaght and level, but very low. He heard a change in the engine note and the plane went straight up vertically, as if doing a loop, it then came down vertically nose first into the ground.

This area almost seems "fated". It being the exact location of the train crash several years ago, and not too distant from the rail disaster in Hixon during the 60's.

Im sure all our thoughts are with the families tonight.

Troll,,,, Well I refrain from comment.

A serious rail collision took place on this (Colwich) site in the mid 1980's, the junction layout and/or signalling was altered as a

result of the recommendations that followed the enquiry. I recall there were canal borne witnesses to the collision, who at

least heard the shocking impact of the trains, one of which was turning right across the junction when another came from

the North and smashed through the other train, one of which (I presume) passed through a red signal for one reason or another,

apologies if I got this wrong.

Another loss of life incident at same site, that must a rare and unhappy coincidence outside wartime, excluding the Motorway network of course.

Well cheers for that.

Look we might not all be as sympathetic as you, is this a crime, or a forum rule broken?

Every one knows flying is a dangerous sport.

Although I am not glad this happened, it has, I cant change it.

Plenty of hypocrits on here, at least I`m straight up,

I bet you and cheshire rose will be the first to receive text jokes on your mobiles about the crash, probably before tomorrow.

If your so upset about folk dieing, how come I havent read anything about Gazza on here, do you just blot it all out, or is it just one or two deaths you get upset about?

Hixon, yes of course. I recall meeting an ex Wynn's Heavy Haulage man (in the 1980's) who was present at this

accident on the rear tractor unit, his (senior) driver had no hesitation in speeding up the tractor although placing them

nearer the danger. It was a police escorted move that went wrong - several organisations had to revise their working instructions

following this incident on a railway level crossing no longer supervised and protected by signals.

Troll, I'm sure if you'd known someone had died from the start, you'd not have said what you did, shame others don't put their hands up and apologise for any offence perceived by others.

It's not to me you have to apologise and I'm sure your apology is not directed at me alone, but I commend you for it.

Hope I don't sound too condescending, I don't mean too, I've made too many mistakes myself in the past and I'll probably make some more.

Such a sad story.

Thoughts go to the families.

Troll

I don't think this is the post to be airing your grievances on.

Ok for the record let me start again.

Since you are all looking again in 2009 to pick on someone. You are welcome to have a go. I can take it.

I am so sorry there was an air crash, that turns out people have been killed in, it is so very sad, and my thoughts go out to the family.

Hows that for the thickos who cant see I posted before I saw the link.?

I dont have any grievances as you say/think Diane, I do have opinions though, which you may or may not like, and I dont actually care if you, or anybody else takes a likeing to me or not, thank you

Upon reading the opening post in this thread (and before going to visit the link supplied by bottle a short time later) my initial thoughts were along the lines of good grief - microlite coming down on cables and a railway track - that is a horrible accident and if anyone survived it then it is nothing short of a miracle.

Then Troll attempts a joke ......

I appreciate and accept your apology Troll and I am pleased that you can accept that perhaps your comment was badly timed. You repeatedly say in your posts that "you do not care" if people are getting at you.

Perhaps if you were to show a little more care then they would not.

I will not be drawn to respond any further on the matter. I have made my point and your apology is accepted.

My thoughts are with the families who's hopes and dreams for a new year have been shattered today.
