  1. Had logged on to post questions regarding arrangements for Saturday, but I see Ally has just beaten me to it! Only additional question that would help me personally is- Any idea as to what time we may be eating because I need to organise myself round it.
  2. Happy Birthday also Dave, Look forward to meeting you next weekend.
  3. Hi Ange, Sorry my previous message only said "surf & turf" I should have said I'll also have chips!! Hope I didnt cause a problem. Had problems sorting things recently because I have no landline & I lost my mobile with all my contact numbers. I know that wasnt clever, but I have been good at getting things wrong recently. I look forward to meeting everyone at the party.
  4. 1 Surf & Turf please Ange x Tobytimothy Its not very far by foot from the Hotel to Marina,I walked it when I was over there recently. However whether people want to walk will I suspect be down to a few points, the weather,if they want to walk through a area they dont know in the dark & probably how much they have had to drink!! 6. Hi Smudge Tried to send you a message without success. Have not logged onto the site for quite sometime, however I would be interested in attending Banter at Beeston (assuming I,m still welcome). Was over at Beeston last week and did get chance to visit Marina & did speak briefly to you friend at the Hotel. I would be like a single room if any are still available. Can you still help or would it be better to book direct? Tobytimothy
  7. Hi Jamie, Like everyone so far, an interesting & uncomplicated site. Prices also look good. Think it would help prospective buyers to see some additional info, like engine make/model etc. Closer photos of woodwork also. However one of the most important things I suspect most would be looking for would be the info about the company itself. Unless I have missed it, apart from a reference to Shardlow Marina there is nothing about the company or the people involved. With so many boatbuilders going to the wall leaving boaters shortchanged over recent years, I'm sure buyers would be more willing to deal with a boatbuilder whose people are clearly identified at the start. The cut is all about people rather than companies, regretably your site gives the impression of a inpersonal business rather than a friendly, work with you, people orientated setup. At the moment a cynic might think it also gives the impression that once it has taken buyers deposits it will liquidate and by hiding individual names & faces it will make that easier to do. I notice that your posts on the forum seem to indicate a different point of view, in that your name & Brians is mentioned so I think the impression given on your website may have been accidental. With that in mind, I would like to suggest a page/heading is added to the website with personal photos/infomation of your build crew. Perhaps entitled " Our Build Team" or something along those lines together with other details of individuals behind the company.

  15. Quote from the site.......... "Can I get Sky or Freesat from the same dish? Yes. The dish can be fitted with a second LNB to feed a Sky or Freesat receiver. Our Quad LNB contains a filter to avoid interference from the transmitter in the iLNB and provides up to 4 feeds for your digital satellite TV system" If this is true, and I have no reason to suspect otherwise then perhaps someone who knows the subject well, may be able to confirm that fitting a 2nd LNB to a sky dish to feed this system would also work.......?

  18. "The instructing client bought the boat without having received the report and therefore is unaware of the detail of findings; some of which potentially threaten the watertight integrity of the craft" In view of this point, I would suggest that approaching British Waterways on the grounds of their "duty of care" to both the person currently in charge of the boat & also other canal users could well speed their response to dealing with the issue.

  22. I am sure that based on Troll's comment, most forums members must now hope that British Waterways believe they should appoint him as a suitable financial advisor on setting future boating fees!!!!
  23. I would strongly advise against using poison. There can be many problems with using poison, one of which is to poison something other than the rat. I would agree that dogs are very effective against rats. At the rear of where I live is a tributary of the trent, so there can sometimes be rats about. Our neighbour has three cats who regularly catch mice but are no use at all at detering rats. One rat however once made the mistake of entering my kitchen through the hatch in my kitchen door. I had a most amusing and interesting few mins watching the rat being chased round the kitchen by one of my dogs (cross springer spaniel/retriever) It ended up with the rat hanging for dear life from the top of the venetian blind with my dog sitting patiently below waiting for it to fall. Eventually however I decided to take pity on the rat and got hold of my dog by his collar and pulled him away. Seeing his escape route no longer barred the rat did a quick exit back out through the hatch. That was the last I ever saw of it. In fact interestingly, even though that was a few years ago now, I have not seen a rat since. So my answer would be to get or borrow a dog. Alternately if you have 240v electrics you could try one of the electronic rat & mouse deterrents. There are many available. A quick search of the internet will bring up many suppliers. An example of one is http://www.martleyelectronics.co.uk/pestcontrol-rodent.html One final solution is to adopt the system they use to use to remove rats from the old sea going saling ships. They would overnight leave waste food on the seashore and then all the rats would leave the ship by way of the ropes, attracted by the food. they would then set sail. A bit long winded but very effective. Hope you manage to resolve your problem.
