Water pump problems

I have a Johnson Aqua Jet Uno Max WPS 2.9GPM 12V 2.8 Bar which  a stoped working . Anybody have idea why it has started to intermitently stop pumping.

Intermitttent pressure switch 

Poor electrical connection. 

Worn brushes

Blockage in pipework

Run out of water? Depends what you mean by "stopped working". Does it make any noise at all and are the relevant switches turned on and fuse/circuit breaker un-bown or un-tripped.

It works for a while, then turn tap on and nothing until we give the pump a tap with a hand. Works again for a while and same thing happens.

Clogged up with limescale or rust ? have you cleaned the filters ?

Possibly a sticky pressure switch then. 

Dunno about Johnson pumps specifically, but shurflo use a cheap micro switch. They don't cost much.

Do you mean absolutely nothing - the pump is completeley silent, or that the pump continues to run, but no water comes out?

Probably a worn out pressure switch, a known problem on all such pumps. I would fit a remote pressure switch (Square D) into the pipework on the output side of the pump and use that. They also allow you to adjust the cut in AND cut out pressures.

That's what I have. I use the internal switch until that packs up then connect the square D in its stead.
