I might have to make a journey tomorrow from Beeston to Shardlow solo. I know Beeston lock is not staffed, but what is the position with Cranfleet and Sawley Locks please?  Bit nervous about those locks if I have to operate them solo.

There are normally vlockies on them during the day. Sawley is mechanical but Cranfleet is manual. Cranfleet can be quite aggressive so just go really slowly with the paddles if you are operating it yourself. Don't let anyone rush you. Many times easier if you are locking up or down with another boat.

Came through a couple of weeks ago, both Cranfleet and Sawley had volunteer lock keepers on. They’re more regular at Sawley then Cranfleet. I believe their on from 8am-4pm. They got us through no problem. After that it’s self operation.
