  1. All looks good at the moment , had a good run and so far no leaks. I will take a look next time I'm out of water for blacking.( if it lasts).
  2. Thank for the input , grease arrived. Checked prop and no damage , load of rope and fishing net around prop , cleared it all off , no movement on shaft so prop seems fine. Engine mounts seemed OK, no unusual vibrations or sounds. Shaft alignment looks OK. Shaft couplings and flexible joints all look OK. Took grease screw out and forced grease in past the jet of water spinning shaft by hand , that slowed the drip right down , ran engine in gear for 5 mins and repacked . Thankfully now no dripping at all . I thought about removing the front off buy was not brave enough , I thought water would piss in.
  3. I have ordered some vetus grease . I only noticed bilge pump turning on when leaving boat and had a quick look and noticed the drip , I started engine and mounts seemed OK, tried a quick nip up on bolts but then had to leave . Grease should arrive Monday so will grease and investigate further then , get a bit more hands on . Thankyou everyone for replies .
  4. It was fine until I hit a submerged object , it stopped the engine dead . This is the first time down engine bay since that happened a couple of weeks ago , I suspect that object has moved the shaft I will get some grease and try the top screw
  5. Anyone have any experience with this type stern gland . I have tried nipping up the 3 Allen bolts but still leaking.
  6. Sawley has lock keepers on and Cranfleet you do yourself unless volunteers on.
  7. Craftinsure are great . My rudder was broke off by a submerged object on the Soar . I did not even think of insurance and purchased a new one for £800 , when it was being fitted the bloke mentioned insurance. I sent them a picture of the broken rudder and a picture of the new one with receipt and a pic of it being fitted. They paid out without question.
  8. I would not personally connect the inverter to the mppt , I would connect it directly to battery.
  9. 383706244301. E bay item number . I can do cheaper for cash price.
  10. Sorry for late reply , phone broke , the interior wood is in good condition , the panels are fine , it's the Mrs who wants to change the look , it's a 3 bedroom at the moment and we are going to remove one room and have a larger main bedroom ,change shower room to a wet room , new kitchen . I suppose painting might keep her happy and would be nice and easy compared to panelling , I just prefer no paint , lol.
  11. Plenty of large windows , with the deeper window recesses made me think of possible double glazing , there would be more depth for the frames .
  12. Cheers Blackrose , definitely have to think about that . Yes it's a widebeam narrow boat. I will have a look when I get a decent internet signal.
  13. https://www.idsurfaces.co.uk/applications/marine/ This place has a massive selection and different colours , just it's trade only . I will have a look through Atlantic timber.
  14. As the title suggests I'm looking for suppliers for interior panelling , I have found a couple with a great selection but you need to be trade to register. I'm thinking of modernising the look , the old panels are still solid , do you think I would need to strip it all out or just go over ? I was thinking maybe 25 mm battens then secure new boards to that , also put a layer of kingspan in between for extra insulation , it's a widebeam so losing a couple of inch is no problem , even headroom is plenty. Any thoughts , ideas welcome.
  15. Never had to pay a deposit to view any boat , think I would laugh if asked. Once boat is viewed then i don't mind leaving a deposit subject to boat survey .
  16. 07860 568271. Tom Just done 5 of us on Nottingham/Beeston canal.
  17. I just used mole grips on any I could not get out , luckily did not have to drill any.
  18. About same size as me , around 30 tonne fitted out .
  19. I prefer IPTV to setting up the satellite , you do need unlimited net though. For me now it's IPTV , firestick , normal TV then satellite as a last resort if I can't get any other signal.
  20. I can't see the mppt operating correctly with that set up and no negative to PV input , maybe it will still get a charge with all negatives after mppt but mppt won't be working as it should. It would have been as easy if not easier to just wire as mppt manual states.
  21. Don't bother phoning him , just buy a bag of mc4 connectors and do it yourself , it's fairly easy . What has he used to connect as a negative to mppt panel input ? Surely not a link to hull.
  22. No I was too busy with a kebab in one hand and bag of chips in the other , lol ,
  23. At Trent bridge Nottingham a couple of weeks ago I witnessed the boat rage from hell , two posh cruisers , one rammed into the other one and a bloke jumped over and battered the crap out of the other driver , blood flying everywhere , he had Mrs and two young kids on board who were crying and screaming as their dad got hammered , people on the banks were shouting for him to stop and that kids are there but it did not matter to him , he was also twice the size of the other bloke. Then he jumped back to his boat and drove off , hopefully the police got him.
