Anyone tried this?

I'm thinking vinyl cratch cover (not canvas).

I've repainted (well, touched up) leather car upholstery with similar, using an airbrush and a little compressor. As with any painting, it's all about the preparation.

The cover was scrubbed clean and then re-cleaned with the chemical (smells like weak ammonia).

Once dried the restorer was put on.

Today the satin sealant will be applied.

It's improved it - how robust it is only time will tell.

No diff with satin coat.

It does recolour, although inconsistent due to uneven wear of the vinyl. Improvement, with more effort and coats may be better finish.

An the owner of a small cruiser moored near me last week used shoe polish . It wasn't in bad condition when he started but perhaps slightly faded . Must admit it came up looking very well and rain beading in the surface. How long it will last remains to be seen.
