Roxylass
As you know the engine in question is a Lister sr2 marine is this the correct side plate for it it fits perfectly well I acquired a small dipstick from sleeman/hawken maybe see if it fits allthough quite sure that Richard said it was for cement mixer/dumper sure there is a couple of pics of it in another thread I made entitled oil dipstick/dipstick thanks for your help once again mr bizzard
RLWP
The door has been drilled and a brass plug fitted, meaning you probably won't be able to fit the sleeve to the door for the dipstick It's probably a door for an SR2, not a marine SR2 I don't have my dipstick identifier handy to say if a #6 is the correct one Would you like me to check if we have an SR2 door with an intact dipstick tube? Man 'o Kent
A world class car maker supplied my research department with their latest design of I.C. engine, brand new and complete but dry. When fitted onto our state of the art dynomometer rig it lasted all of two minutes before siezing solid. It turned out that some plonker had factory fitted the wrong dipstick so when we commisioned the engine it didn't have anywhere near enough oil in it despite what the dipstick said! So if you decide to fit a dipstick make sure you have the right quantity of oil in the engine first and only then mark your shiny new dipstick with the correct level. Roxylass
That would be very much appreciated Richard will it have the mounting for the lifting pump as you can see in the pic to the left of the cap thank you for your help
bizzard
The safe way to make sure you have the right dipstick is to drain all the oil out and refill with te correct amount, SR2 is about 9 pints, and then see if the dipstick registers correctly. You need steel rod, 1/8'' welding rod works well.

RLWP
You might be in luck @Roxylass. I had a search the other day and found only simple door. Yesterday, I stumbled across this: It's a brand new two cylinder crankcase door, it would need dressing up because it is a machined casting only. No studs, oil filler (or blank), fuel pump guide or threaded oil filter tube I don't know if I have the internal oil pipes for the filter, I do have a blanking plate Richard
