Hello, this is a general enquiry about the logistics & experience of Eurovision around the docks in 2023 - Has anyone managed to get onto Salthouse Dock? Are you going to Liverpool & have any plans to celebrate the shindigs?

Hello. I have been lurking on this forum for a long time, long enough to remember Moley, Maffi and even John Orentas. I thought it was about time I posted something, especially as posts I have been reading keep disappearing into the Politics forum which I currently can't read Anyway, I wondered if anyone on the forum went on the Coal and Cotton Rally. This was a cruise from Leeds to Liverpool organised by BW. It was to be the last time boats would be able to use the commercial docks to access Salthouse dock via the Mersey. The link was supposed to open in 2008 for access, but it was delayed a year. Some of our friends did the whole trip, but we joined at Wigan, via the Leigh Branch We moored at Wigan pier, which was open then. In the Orwell pub we meet to ex-working boaters, Henry and Phyllis. They we taking their boss's boat to Liverpool so that he could cruise it on the Mersey

Hi folks- before I go ahead and shell out for the CRT mooring I've got my eye on in Lancashire, I wonder if any of you know of any private linear moorings close to Liverpool (up to Parbold or thereabouts). I need to be able to commute to Liverpool by bike and train from September. Don't need electricity or water hookup, and the more rural the better! Any advice very much appreciated!

Over the holiday I developed a case of Liverpool Boat flappy Rudder syndrome (LBFRS) Questions: Can these be replaced whilst in the water? Does anyone know the correct bolt sizes and what quality should i be looking at? Is it worth eventually having, as has been suggested elesewhere, the rudder welded? I only need to effect a repair to get me through to spring or summer when I will have the boat out for blacking. many thanks for any valid replies.

Some viewers may find this upsetting. All 35 passengers were accounted for. 15th June 2013 Feel free to post your views / experiences in what you would do in a man overboard situation. Stay Safe, Happy Boating. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/h7aMdwdZukU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Hi everyone, I have enjoyed reading through posts here in the past, but this is my first ever post! Can anyone suggest some residential moorings in the Greater Manchester region? My wife and I are relocating from Canada to Manchester next Spring, and having previously lived on the Norfolk Broads, we'd love a similar lifestyle in Manchester. It is a little difficult planning things on the other side of the world, but we are coming over at the end of the month and we would like to visit some moorings. Any help/thoughts would be much appreciated! Ben

Just in time for the festive season, I present to you a trip from Liverpool Docks, across the Mersey, and onwards up the River Weaver to Acton Bridge, for the Steam Gathering held there in early October. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFhsIOGghtM From the description: Join the 1913 Steam Tug Kerne on her trip from Liverpool to Acton Bridge on the River Weaver via the Manchester Ship Canal. It's not a simple trip, first having to wait for the Seatruck Progress departing for Dublin, along with other vessels. Once we had picked up extra crew at Ellesmere Port, the problems didn't stop as we needed to find the newly dredged channel into Marsh Lock, the entrance to the Weaver. As it was shallow a pump with rigged up to take cleaner water as the boat plowed through the mud at various points allow the River. Even getting a tow over the worse part, where the Daniel Adamson later got stuck. Happy Christmas one and all, Myk
