  1. I'm sure he wished he had done! On that rainy day painting, the dick head jumped on the back of the boat 'goaded by his director' slipped and shoved his front teeth up in to his nose on the swan neck of Reckless as he fell in the cut, Its all there on his blog how he is going to get used to false teeth etc. some of us were unfortunate to be there.
  2. There are many such forward engined, hydraulic propulsion narrowboats around. One fairly shortish 48 ft moors at Lime View on the Macclesfield. I remember seeing one near Skipton a few years back, the crew baling out the engine bay in the bow after getting a soaking. A
  3. Nothing beefy enough there to do the Proper Job A
  4. Arthur I know you are trying to be helpful, but unfortunately this is one of many replies you make which shows you haven't got the first idea of what boats are about. Tim Leech please help the OP on this one A
  5. Hi Justme I think your post could be a cause of confusion. If you use two cables for both + & - then each should be fused for its share of the load & not just one large fuse. This could be read as a need to insert fuses in the – cables along with the + cables If you fit onelarge fuse & for some reason one of the cables fails then the other cablecould be carrying the full load & over heating. Bearing in mind the reasoning to double up cables is to reduce volt drop, in many instances the fuse rating of the circuit may well be below the current carrying capacity of one of the doubled up cables. Someone is now going to come along and say I have made it all more confusing A
  6. Love it Richard A Well the one I'm thinking of has been offline since the 6th, hope its not just the Easter hols A
  7. I only asked the question A
  8. Is this forum hell bent on self destruction by entertaining tripe and twaddle from newbies who are only here to stir the sh1t. A
  9. Here we go again, with out getting into the spelling and grammar, the OP has done it again, posting nonsense in such a way to get volatile response. It seems to me that he is only here for exposure for his own ends anyway. So why do we entertain him? A
  10. So this is how you perceive your fellow boaters? Good luck with your website A
  11. Thanks for the replies. Think I'll be reaching, struggling and stretching and keeping it manual. A
  12. Hi Guys and Girls, Has anyone ever come across a system for automatically topping up a battery bank with de-ionised water? I have just heard of such a system being fitted to a boat today?? A
  13. For the guys and girls who do have a "fancy phone " this app is really good Compass v2.1.1 Within a couple of years we all will have fancy phones, the dinosaur Nokia 6310 (probably the phone Carlsberg wished they had produced) will go by the wayside, touch screens will be second sense and GPS just an everyday norm. Cheers A
  14. Thanks Robbo, you are obviously in the know, do they also work off coordinates, I have a compass App on my Android Phone that will either bring up the nearest address with postcode or if not near a postcode the Long and Lat coordinates. Cheers A
  15. Really? How long would that take then? Cheers A
  16. Thanks for the insight, much appreciated Cheers a
  17. Hi , for the uninitiated to the tidal Trent could you explain to us why the tide would have to be right for it not to be fun, or explain the type of fun it might be ? Cheers A
  18. Hi Micky Pay a few quid for some steel scrap ballast in the tug deck area, batteries as near as possible to the alternator, job done. There are other views which will be along shortly and I may have to stand corrected, doubt it though A Must learn to type faster
  19. Hi Bob Am I missing something here, along with apparently everyone else? Connections to the 'breaker' panel, disregarding how few or how many should be from the switch side of the battery isolator not the battery terminals. Cheers A
  20. Brian, I can't see any mention of amps on the link. Two shunts already? what is your battery management system? Cheers A
  21. Hi, personally I would stick with pure sine wave. If you really only use your inverter for Tv and a laptop then you could probably make a saving by buying a smaller unit. Hope this helps Cheers A
  22. Hi Brian The smartgauge monitor will not show you amp hour rate. There are rumours they are bringing out a new model with A/Hr counting etc, this new item will no doubt come with a shunt. Cheers A
  23. Love it, Just a shame it sometimes is a true scenario !
  24. Hi, think it depends where you are in the country. I use Accuweather to tell me if freezes are on the way, or things of the past. Accu weather I'd suggest you are probably ok to de-winterise and get on that boat for the 1st night ---- enjoy Cheers A
  25. If its not a new boat then the directive does not concern you, though single core cables no matter how they are protected would certainly concern me. Cheers A
