  1. Hi I have a problem with my Sealand toilet and was hoping someone may be able to advise. At the back of the bowl is a cover and under it a valve this has started to leak. Anyone know what this is called and how to replace it. Thanks in advance Pete
  2. I've seen the miracle leisure ladder come gangplank but was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere that supplied ali gang planks not built on a ladder? Cheers Pete
  3. Made me smile but I have edited title to avoid confusion Pete
  4. Hi Trying to get hold of lockgate. Does anyone know if they are still in buisness? They have definitely moved from their old building in Shardlow, emails and phone calls get no response. Thanks Peter
  5. There is a small landing in the offline waterway above the weir. We used it to visit the pumping station. When I say small it is roughly 6ft so you have to tie up in a strange way but it worked.
  6. I once got accused of talking to a petrol pump, I said that would be a crazy thing to do. The accuser didn't think my explanation that I was talking to the car improved thing's!
  7. Yes it is a drip feed stove with a back boiler. Thanks Peter
  8. Hi Been doing somr maths pn Heating our boat if we decide to live aboard and was hoping someone with real world experience could advise. We are on a 54ft boat with a refleck stove connected to a back boiler. I've figured 1/2 liter per hour to run so 12 liters per day so 360 litets per month. I mudt admit this does not tally (I think) with my experience when we have spent time on the boat during winter. Hopefully someone can tell me where my mistake is. Thanks in advance Pete
  9. I can clarify the dates were an example but it does always say start date the day you ask it to be valid from end date the day after so the last one I bought said start date 31st May end date 1st June.
  10. Thanks both of you, you tally with my thought if I buy it starting on the 1st it is good for the 1st.
  11. When I buy a one day license it starts on (say) 1st jul ends 2nd July. My question is which of those 2 days am I licensed for? Tried asking C&RT licensing but didn't seem to be able to make my question clear. So in my example is the 1st 2nd, both or 24 hours from sometime on the 1st to sometome on 2nd Any helpful advice gratefully received
  12. We are thinking of making our first trip Friday. Is there anyone near Beeston who could let us know the level and state of the Trent please. Thanks Peter
  13. And before you do anything make sure they are leaking and not just dripping from condensastion. You don't want to go to all that effort just to end up back where you started. Guess how I know to check!
  14. The caves tour is good so is the castle and we loved the ghost tour. The museum of nottingham life next to the trip is worth a visit. And don't forget drinking in the canal house, pit and pendulum, royal children, salutation and about 350 more Pete
  15. We moored against the small pontoon in 54 footer, did need to walk down the gunwales.
  16. Basically if the pound had not been deliberately drained by vandals the injured boater would have stepped on the bank rather than missing the bank. This happened around 2 am when I suspect none of us would be at their best. So whatever anyone else may think I think there is a direct connection between the act of the vandals and the injury. By the way this is the second time recently this area has been deliberately drained.
  17. Last night some morons drained the pounds around Middlewich, unfortunately a boater went to step off not realising it had happened and fell, he was taken off to hospital in an ambulance. Here's wwishing he gets better quickly. The police were called but I doubt there is much chance of them catching anyone. We are currently sitting on the bottom just above kings lock.
  18. Hi, If you have an EOG mooring on a river do you still have to get C&RT permission to use it andpay them for the privalege? Thanks for any constructive advice. Pete
  19. Hi We just agreed with the owners we could pay for it to be blacked after we had discussed the survey with the surveyor. In practiceIit meant the boat was blacked the day after. It was obviously a good deal for the current owners as if the deal did collapse they had a freshly blacked boat. Pete
  20. I know the chandlery in Castle Marina have the name and number of a local firm that people on the marina use regularly. I'm afraid I'm no where near my boat where I have the number. Cheers Pete
  21. Hi Thanks guys, is there any sign of it dropping? Cheers Pete
  22. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone in the area would be able to advise how the Trent is looking, Specifically Beeston to Shardlow. Looking at the EA website for Shardlow it implies it is high and rising. Any info appreciated. Pete
