  1. Could I ask how you managed to get them down to that price? I'm in the last 30 days of a 2 year contract with Three which came with a phone and all you can eat data and is currently £33 month (no tethering). I asked to move on to sim only with all you can eat data and the required amount of minutes which is 600, but when I tried to do a deal they wouldn't offer anything over and above what was available to new customers on their website at a cost of £22 per month. The retention advisor refused to give me a pac code saying I could call back for one when I decided to leave. Am I getting through to the wrong team or am I asking the wrong things?
  2. Just out of interest, did your get your mifi's under contract from a network or did you purchase them unlocked? I've got a couple of Three network mifi's and wondered if the EE sim might work in them?
  3. This just got a mention on Radio 2, thanks to the Daily Mail article. Although Sara Cox did refer to the boat as a barge!
  4. Great thanks, we've had a poke around and think we have located said valve - there are 2 that we have turned off (there were 4 in total) and have then tried running the Webasto - the radiators didn't come on and the water appeared to be getting warmer although it's hard to tell for certain as it's still warm from a trip out yesterday (but the OH had a shower and wasn't complaining it was cold for once!). The true test will be tomorrow when we've let the water cool completely and then fire up the Webasto - fingers crossed it works - if it does, it'll be a revelation for us! Only been boating 4 years you always learn something new
  5. Just like the OP, we are trying to come up with a solution to get hot water without running the engine. We are increasing our solar bank (from 200 watts to 695) and have an immersion which we wondered whether we could run using the solar only. We also have Webasto central heating but did not know that it is possible to use it for hot water only. Are all set up's likely to be like this or in some cases would we need to switch off all the radiators to achieve the desired effect? If there is a valve on our Webasto, where would it be located - in/on the engine, near the radiator tank or near the motor that runs the CH? And what does it look like - if anyone has any pictures that would be brilliant. Thanks in advance.
  6. As a person with a dog as a member of our family my heart goes out to you. Ignore those with nothing better to do than hijack threads. We're keeping everything crossed for a safe return.
  7. Yes we did on Monday! Around lunchtime (on our own)
  8. What an awful experience to have gone through. We've done the Caldon and beyond Engineers Lock it's lovely - I throughly recommend a visit to The Hollybush at Denford to settle your nerves We were untied at Newark last weekend, nothing in comparison to what you've been through and I was still awake and so able to act fast and get re-tied quickly but it was a stark reminder of what other people think is a nights amusement vs . damage to property/risk to life! Hope you have a peaceful nights sleep tonight.
  9. Thanks both for the answers - I hadn't thought about EA's reporting being for flooding more in relation to risk to property/life. Love the idea of a 'Boatability' measurement - maybe it's something we could petition CRT to introduce In the meantime we'll use common sense and certainly won't avoid rivers through fear of the flow - just done the tidal Trent from Cromwell to Keadby and enjoyed it!
  10. Hi All, is there any standard method to determine what the river level reading on the EA website translates to on the red/amber/green indicator boards at locks? Yesterday we did Knottingley to Selby and the board at Bank Dole lock was green but at West Haddlesey Flood lock was on amber. Looking at the EA website I can't determine what is the safe level? Any advice/hints/tips appreciated Thanks
  11. Ditto for us on the cooking - gas oven and hob used every day and a 13kg bottle lasts 12 weeks.
  12. Also being an electric ignoramus, can you explain what you mean by making the 'high power DC runs much shorter' are you talking about the length of wiring. We're at the point of thinking we need to replace our 12v Waceo fridge as it doesn't last longer than 20 mins before coming on, regardless of how much charge is in the batteries. (Apologies to the OP for going off on a tangent)
  13. Edit to say this belongs with my below post - trying to post on a new phone and failed!
  14. Maybe we could combine our two tubs to get one working one - the only problem is custody arrangements - 1 weekend on one off maybe?? Thanks for the advice, I guess seeing as it is all but useless anyway I have nothing to lose by trying to take it apart....now where is that sledge hammer!
  15. We have one of these twin tubs linky. It has begun playing up when washing - the timer knob is getting stuck after about 3 mins and so I am unable to do a proper wash without standing over the machine for half an hour! I have removed the knob and cleaned out the gunk that was there but the problem still exists. I think that it works by some kind of clog mechanisim (I know what I mean, hope you do too!)and that probably needs a clean but I cannot see how to take the machine apart to get to it. Does anyone have one of these machines and suffered similar problems? If so how did you fix it? Many thanks Sarah

    Sky

My Dad and brother are huge F1 fans - they live in a house but don't want to get Sky installed. As an alternative this might be an option linky- under the banner "Sky Go Monthly Ticket" click on the 'Show Monthly Ticket Option' button (on the right) and it gives you prices to be able to get Sky TV on a monthly basis via the internet/smart phone/ipad. You coud get this on your laptop and watch on TV and only pay for the months that F1 is on...... I haven't investigated properly yet so sorry if it's not any good.... Edited to say it does seem as pricey as getting a satelite system from Sky, but as it's on a monthly contract and your not paying for installation then it's probably the best option if your a big F1 fan....
  17. Thanks so much for the reply Classicstove, that's definitely clarified things - I think maybe I ended up speaking to Royal Mail even though I dialled a Post Office number - there were that many options to choose from before I could speak to an actual person! I'll carry on as before but just use the service at Post Offices I can go in and ask rather than trying to phone them!
  18. We've used the Post Restante service a couple of times over the last 18 months with no problems. Needing to get something delivered quite urgently but not being close enough to a PO to go and ask if they accepted Post Restante I rung the main 0845 number to see if the post office nearest to us would accept a parcel. Many options and choices later I got through to a lady who said Royal Mail had stopped the Post Restante service and that there was no way to receive mail to a PO! I know there are a few users of this service - has anyone else had any issues? I have eventually managed to get to speak to the actual post office who didn't seem to mind receiving a parcel so I'm wondering if it's more of a corporate thing with Royal Mail and the individual post offices won't have any objection if you ask them? Edited to add that it's still available according to the website linky

    Help

We've got the big Nicholson's map which shows all the UK waterways and then we use the Pearsons Canal Companions which cover most of the canals in details and some of the rivers - it's only some of the London/Southern areas that they don't cover. In addition to the big UK map Nicholson's also do map books covering each section in detail - I think a lot of people use those also....
  20. I got it from a Three shop (stores are usually in all large city centres). I went into the shop, asked if it had an ariel socket, then asked to see it to check and then asked if I could put my existing Three contract SIM, which has 12 months left on the contract, into the new dongle. The anwser was yes so I bought one (for £34.99).
  21. We bought the dongle on its own for £34.99 and put in an existing Three SIM - which is a contract, 15GB a month for £15 - think it's a little more than that now, got this contract a year ago.
  22. You're right, it doesn't specify anywhere that there is an ariel socket - I went into a Three shop and asked to see one (just so I could see for myself!) - it is the Huawei E367. We have a Zoom 3G router...
