  1. yeah this But oh you and your facts and thinking about things - you're spoiling the fun of those that relish in spreading the hate of those less fortunate than themselves (which CWDF does so well)
  2. I think people are seeing the flyer and then thinking they saw the boat 2 or 3 days ago, hence no pictures and no certainty that it was actually the stolen boat but these 'sightings' get presented to us a bona fide sighting I reckon the Cholmondeston sighting isn't the boat at all I'll still try and clock all passing boats though
  3. 2 or 3 days ago! Any more info? eg who was crewing it? I'm asking cos I saw a similar boat (same colour & length but maroon rails round the back rather than solid) a couple of days ago in the evening.- this was crewed by a young chap and had about 3 young kids on it I'm thinking this may be your sighting - when i saw it it reminded me of the pictures of your boat so i checked the pics you posted and it had different windows
  4. Well i cant be in 3 places at once now can i If there's anyone else in the area TODAY then we can get ourselves organised and cover all 3 possible routes - assuming the sighting was today of course which the owner hasn't verified yet it was pointing towards Barbridge so it's going up towards chester, south towards Audlem or up the Llangollen
  5. I knew exactly where he meant though I'm currently not far from Wrenbury & making sure i clock all boats passing What we need is someone at Audlem and someone up towards Chester to stay put and watch all the time
  6. indeed - i can get to Hack Green or Bunbury in 15mins in the motor but i'm not going chasing round the countryside if the sighting was days ago
  7. Barbridge Junction is north of Nantwich and south of Chester. Not far from Hurleston Did they say what day & time it was spotted?
  8. oi cheeky! give us a clue eh? my spelling is very bad and i wont notice letters in the wrong order - i rely on the wiggly line which may have stopped working ETA: spotted it - ha ha ha ! i'm gonna leave that in
  9. exactly what i was thinking - the real time saving is not having to get off to open up - especially with low pounds Not sure if you've ever done the 16 on your own Nick but it isn't the easiest flight to single hand with the aforementioned low pounds, the gate that opens by itself, no handrails on most of the bottom gates (i wont wank across them in the rain and i'm not overly cautious), the anti vandal locks (darn it down the ladder for the key). They are also deep so as well as the ladder to climb, if there's no one on the boat you need to start the paddle slow when filling Wait till the day you're behind me matey, then you'll know about waiting

  11. It's not really that useful to know. Other things like waiting or getting a clear run for locks & swing bridges & getting past narrows & cluttered hire bases add far much more variability in timings than the flow
  12. What kind of topcoat is on there at the moment and what are you using as topcoat? I would undercoat the lot to be sure the topcoats is compatible if you're not sure whats on there now
  13. nooooooo! - you must be an arty/graphics/photographer type then - no one else likes vista This depends on how many batteries you have & how much other electrical stuff you use (and when you use it). Also on your running the engine for moving anyway pattern I get on fine with 2 bog standard batteries and 200W of solar. I need to run 2 laptops for work (& watching TV on) & run the fridge except in winter - little & often is my motto - just remember that if you have many batteries you'll need to keep them all charged My boat doesn't even have a fitted inverter - A cheepo maplins 300W one does all my 240v needs which is mainly things that run at odd voltlages like camera battery charging & the printer
  14. nice pic or, even more bizarrely, when i've just come up the ladder they instruct "get back on & I'll do it" - like i'm going to climb back down the ladder! Or equally as strange, if they're going the same way & in front, they'll refuse my offer to shut the gates for them & insist on hanging about and 'helping' me which only means i'll be waiting behind them at the next lock too I agree with you - i like doing locks by myself - i don't need help and i dont understand the assumption by non single-handers that i want it You didn't do anything wrong Ricco - you just met an arse, forget about him
  15. no it isn't now just do one you ignorant troll
  16. not necessarily - a similar thing happened to me - insurance co declined to offer me a renewal because 'home' was different from 'place car usually kept' and i checked with them whether it counted as 'decline or refuse' and they said it didn't this was about 3 years ago

  22. Depends how you feel about heights i suppose, and how clear your roof is. It's just on the limit of what i'd jump down - i didn't actually jump though - i sat on the lockside and pushed myself off. Going up I used Arthur's method of pulling the boat in & hooking the line with the boathook as it came under the bridge which worked nicely
  23. I cant remember exactly but it's in the 50s - they dont take the piss like the marinas Timx use Mountbatten the fuel boat next time - they do a run every other week. their number is 07756 170860
