  2. Wood effect vinyl is available for interior decor like furniture, doors and and a wall covering. I have an old travellers caravan that needs freshening up and will be employing a white wood vinyl on the walls and a beech or perhaps a maple effect on the cupboards. Quite an inexpensive and simple makeover.

  10. Looking at the blog pictures, it does look remarkably similar in design to "Muddy Waters", the Springer that sank last year at Uxbridge the evening after a survey: http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=59715&page=2
  11. Napalm. An added bonus is that it gets rid of spiders. And most of the boat.
  12. The internet is also full of his posts on other fora. Aka Telegate929 on a comic book forum. Aka Telegoat888 on Pennyarcade forum, Aka Roolpinline on the Overclockers forum, Aka Telegram on the Studentroom forum, Aka... Either a bot or someone who is rather ill. Leave it and move on.
  13. Have you considered "gutting" a suitable laptop, putting the motherboard into a custom case with better cooling and running it as a desktop? Being a laptop, the differing power supply issues aren't there and you have no problems with the inherent fragility of a laptop on a boat. There is a poster on the ukhippy forum that did similar by putting his pc into an aluminium flight case - simple and rugged.
  14. Shoreline fridges. Expect your wallet to take a hammering.
  15. Electrolux also made the RM212 as a 240v only version as well as the usual three way version. I've recently bought a travellers caravan and was fitted with such a model. The thermostat that is usually mounted outside on the top panel is relocated into the fridge next to where the pilot light peephole should be. Carry on...

  18. Dean S lied when he said he used a camera for that picture and is actually the re-incarnation of Claude Monet. Where do I claim my £5?

  21. On another tack, a recent news report to the perils of answering the door to a TV licence inspector, he might be fake: http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/update/2014-03-11/suspect-pretending-to-be-from-tv-licensing-takes-cash/
  22. A government funded media? Bad idea. At least with the "unique" way the BBC is funded it can - attempt at least - appear to be impartial. The posts about advertising (or the lack of) on the BBC are amusing, since the BBC run adverts all the time: about the BBC. Still, they've got to make the programmes length "ad friendly" when they come to sell them to overseas markets.
  23. Has anyone seen a functioning detector van? Or to put it another way: How many convictions of tv licence evasion have ever been won as a result of evidence from a tv detector van. The answer is 0.
  24. In a previous life I used to own a Range Rover and the New Thing then was to fit polybushes to replace the original metalastic versions. They failed in short order, but on the upside were easy to fit. Since then I'm always a bit wary of Polyurethane, more so when R&D list the "failsafe" design above the corrosion disadvantage of supposedly lesser spring based plates.
