  1. Theophilus (another of the Sickle family) was also in the Wyvern fleet with a wooden top before disappearing to re.sidential status in Maida Vale tunnel moorings for years.
  2. James at RBS has done valuation surveys for not only potential sellers, but insurance companies, matrimonial dispute solicitors etc. Might be worth giving him a ring
  3. I think Mike bought Victoria 2009, it was repainted in early 2010. Cowroast/Northchurch on his way to the Jam 'Ole Run. Coming back...Rising Sun I did have a picture of Victoria before the repaint, but unfortunately this was stolen by Photobucket.
  4. We use Homefire Ovals in the deepest, darkest months as it turns well, stays in for a long time, and isnt too ashy. It doesnt stay in well when using sparingly, or just ticking over in Sept/Oct, mar/Apr, so we did use excel up to this year, but not any more after a recipe change has made it very ashy and has damaged a brass chimbly
  5. I reckon the marina have cut his wifi off.
  6. Heat rises.... It also usually passes through the calorifier in 15mm first after leaving the heater, so isnt scared of the small pipes.
  7. I never used to stop anywhere between Little Venice and Tottenham or Stonebridge Lock!! We did notice last year that no hire boats are going South from Leighton Buzzard...of any company including Wyvern.
  8. You need to run 22mm as the main flow system, with 15mm spurs to rads. This is a direct Webasto installation recommendation. For it to work properly, Fit it properly. The only reason you would have the main flow in 15 is if you are retrofitting a new heater to an old rad installation which used 15.
  9. N. Kilworth are currently charging an extortionate fee for any contractors coming on site to work on boats. You may well have to move onto the towpath to get the work done, several people I know will not go in there any more. What kind of electrical work needs doing?
  10. You are correct, Googling looks nothing like the above photo...
  11. It's a canal going narrowboat.
  12. Looks completely wrong, they should have put a coat of something over it, at least to the waterline. Perrydale also remain top of my list for worst new narrowboat interior design that I have come across.
  13. They have had 2 bad Winters, losing most of the car park several times over the last 12 months. It was in recent years a budget Hungry Horse outlet, appealing to the lower earning populace who have been worst affected by the cost of living crisis.
  14. I guess this is the corner, opposite the wier?? Has always been a bad spot, with the river pulling you towards the wier with its footbridge walkway over. Vegetation management may well fall under local council responsibility on this section, as I think it is outside of the City/CRT agreement on the navigation management.
  15. One of our favourite places.
  16. I would actually spend your battery money on solar NOW, that size array is more than enough to keep your boat going for the rest of Summer, even with knackered but serviceable batteries. Then you have about 4 months to replace your batteries and can work out what you need, or whether Lithium is the best option.
  17. So you were up a shit Crick without a paddle then.
  18. No better here today, bottom step is usually 3" underwater...

  20. Apparently, all the hysteric boats at Crick show had a big engine start up yesterday afternoon about 3.30. One (forum member) had forgotten to cover the exhaust up overnight, and splattered the boat next to it whilst showing off!!! Didnt they....
  21. Well, yes, boaters do that....a lot!!
  22. If you get micro-bubbles, it's because you had too much paint on the roller, or didnt spread it far enough.....usually, rolling the excess paint out on the next area means you can go back and clear the bubbles with a fingertip strength roll. Harris should be hung drawn and quartered for their 'No Bristle Loss' claims for some of their brushes. We use them for primers mainly. A very good, but still budget friendly laying off brush is ProDecs IceFusion.
  23. Nipped in this morning to see a few folks, and talk to Caldwells Many hybrid and electric propulsion stands now, not just the usual engine co's either. Also a large number of solar/lithium sellers/fitters, some dealing in separates, some selling their one stop magic box with everything contained in it. Midland Chandlers marquee a bit sparse, I couldnt even get a chimbly cap! Worst boat of the show had to be the composite...no gunnels, and propulsion system guaranteed to get destroyed by the first bridge hole full of rubbish it comes to. Best boat for me, although not to my personal taste, was the Vampirate from Norton Canes, unbelievable attention to detail and theme. The Brazilian marble work surface was stunning.
  24. Nipper , of Largo on here in the past had his boat done at Hillmorton (2019)and it was shockingly bad. Having a not very well insulated shed (60 ft)and a 70 foot boat resulted in absolutely awful blooming and micro blistering on one end, the rest wasnt much better with not much paint and micro blistering too. There was no redress as the painter decided to go bust, and no body else would admit helping to paint it. Perhaps they have new people and improved the dock now.
