  1. Worked at Nantwich Canal Centre a few years ago and they had a brand new Sea Otter in that had tried to get through at Hurleston and could not make it . The rubbing strakes made it too wide, This was a long one so the length may have been part of the problem ,
  2. My other half went in afew yearsago in Market Drayton at the time we had a tug with a low front deck and, as we approached the mooring, she went to step off to tie us up there was a tyre attached to the mooring which she slipped on and in she went, I was at the other end and i still shudder to think ,had I not heard her shout and put the engine in reverse she could have been seriously injured. Luckily we had a friend on board who managed to pull her out. Always makes me wary now when nosing a boat into a mooring and make sure the boat is stopped before anyone gets off
  3. Having owned both sizes of boat i.e 32 ft and 50 ft, with a few in between the main thing to you need to decide , if you go for the smaller size , is which is more important , tje sleeping area or the living area? Our last 32 ft had a fixed double at the back which looked fine but the living area was just two small benches at the front and after a while was very uncormfortable and with the boat beins so short meant you had nowhere else to go . think carefully before deciding
  4. Just read an article in towpath tele. regarding Northwich Victortia football club applying for planning permission to open up a marina alongside their ground, had a look on thier website ,no details, does anyone have any more details?. Would have thought the way marinas are struggling at the moment it may be an unwise move?
  5. Looking at the roof of our boat yesterday and thinking that it could probably do with a repaint. The boat is 22 years old so probably has a hell of a lot of layers of paint on it. Has anyone any advice how to remove all these old layers and get it back to original or would it be better to just put another layer on top? should add it is a sanded roof
  6. Sorry I read as someone elses dog having a go at yours!
  7. Wouldnt the Marina owner be liable if this dog attacked yours? I would have thought that if there is a dog on the marina that is in anyway aggressive then the owners should be told not to bring that dog onto a mooring,
  8. Have noticed the lack of boats around our area lately also, The Middlewich festival seems to have less boats every year and even the traders have stopped attending, presumably because they are not selling enough. when we started boating you could fill up with fuel for about £30 now its £120 could this be making a lot of people think twice about just going out for a weekend trip? I think the school holidays will tell if there is any difference
  9. No it was the smaller one, not painted as well as the one in the picture though
  10. For anyone in the area a reminder the Middlewich boat and folk festival on this weekend , although the weather doesnt look to good
  11. we got one the same from Crick £19.99
  12. His solicitor tells the other worried boaters to keep going to court. Would that be to keep lining her pockets, perish the thought!
  13. where the hell did I leave my bike? k
  14. Dont know what the connection is but they are situated at the elton moss boat share base, they seem to have moved their boats away and there are a couple of shells out there so maybe they are building under the name of Northwich boats, maybe worth checking out
  15. Just in case anyone has missed it, new series of Julia Bradburys canal walks bbc 2 9.00 pm tonight[friday]
  16. You could be right regarding resale value , whilst we were down at the show we went to Braunston and had a look at Dover, it looks quite tired . paint peeling off the handrails, broken back hatch, I cetainly would not contemplate spending that amount of money on it, especially as there was an immaculate 70 ft next to it for 46k
  17. Bet the crane driver got a shock!
  18. While we were having a walk arond at Crick one boat that stood out for us was the William Piper boat ,the only thing that was not to my taste were the storage lockers on the bow but ,surely, that had been requested by the customer? and the builder only does what the customer requires. Another one that stood out to us was Navigation Narrowboats to me that boat really seemed to stand out, but at 130k would be way out of most peoples league, I would suspect.

  21. Had our boat redone with vynil signs and whilst it looks quite good dont think it will ever match sign writing. The only good thing ,to me, is that with vynil you can apply them yourself at the mooring without having to take the boat somewhere to have it done and as already stated the cost £60 against £300
  22. Thanks for that. If its only takes that time by car could you walk there easily?
  23. According to the forecast the weather should be fair and dry but at the moment up here in Middlewich it is pouring down and if its like this down in Crick what are the parking areas going to be like? We are booked in a hotel for a couple of nights. Anyone know how far it is from Holiday Inn to the showground?
  24. HI again , when I had the problem with my phone it also showed a call to Jersey later on again I dont know anyone there, When i took the problems up with 3, they said someone else in the house must have used the phone which is tosh. one thought can u not just buy another sim card and see what happens
  25. Dont know wether this is the same problem but , a few years ago, I got a Nokia slider phone from 3 on contract. The phone arrived in the post at 9,30, I opened it up and put it on charge. When I got the first bill there was a call on it I did not recognise , contacted 3 and was told it was a call to Germany at 9.am on the morning I had got the phone . I have never ever made a call to Germany
