Only thing that has happened is that price has risen from 129 to 149 since Trumps war. Bad news though but diesel has gone up way more round here which is hitting quite a few oil burner types.

Zero shortages here thankfully, local petrol stations zero queues all fully operational and just filled up at Morrisons, drove straight in and alongside pump. Must be a regional thing.

There is certainly less rubbish in the canals in the past couple of decades. The Coventry canal is much improved as are many others. Bought my boat at Ansty in 89 and there were more settees and cars in the canal than boats!!

Everything has declined since the 70s. I moved onto my first full time live aboard in 1973, at the time there were around c150 working boats all painted grey and in mainly good order ready to deploy. Look at the farce that has faced that lot in recent weeks!! Successive governments of all colours have overseen the decline. The 80s and 90s were great inland but declined steadily since the turn of the century 😕

My Hudson had no rivets but it was very very well built and an absolute bargain for the quality of finish. Especialy as it was a whole boat which gave us plenty of space for a similar price to a tiddly boat.

Agreed, all true but myself I am a better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all type of bloke so have gone for it most occasions lol. As a for instance it never made sense for a working class bloke to run a Rolls Royce but I fancied one so bought the one used for my wedding and gave it to the wife for a laugh. One life and all that. Its a while ago now thats youngest sprog who is now 41
