  1. Yup offside pontoon and behind a CRT key locked gate, its not too far to wander into Erdington from there either but also shed loads of taxis from Star City as well
  2. Considering my previous comments about the joys of radio 4 I am sure you wouldn't be supprised to know I have a very soft spot for the shipping forcast, pure poetry
  3. Possibly and as its the only station I listen to during the day I would say its a gem to be treasured
  4. Funnily enough I have tried that, everything was right, sunny day, good friends, a few beers, bit of decent snap and a good book for the dull bits. (Apparently it was some sort of international England v NZ friendly) Well in the end it wound me up so much, far too dull to watch and the crowd kept getting excited about obscure bits of the game it put me off the book I gave up and.spent a happy day wandering around Wellington
  5. I think it works because its a quintessential almost painfully English tradition, that can require almost no concentration but acts as a background rumble to normal everyday tasks, with the occasional moments of outstanding humour
  6. To add another layer of weirdness, I don't follow/understand cricket but I used to love listening to the test match special whilst I did various repetitive jobs in the greenhouse
  7. I have one of those flexible drivers and very useful it has been over the years, saved many a scraped knuckle when I spent my time living with a mini

  10. Your not sealing the meat as has been pointed out already the browning creates a caramelised crust which adds exrra flavour to the dish, Its why you should cook steak at a high temp to create the caramelised crust, hmmmmmm might buy a steak for tea tonight https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maillard_reaction I knew it had a technical name, the Maillard reaction
  11. Actually a Billy Bragg lyric but her version was almost as good as Bills
  12. Why would golf clubs need composting bogs?
  13. Being bombarded by apples whilst on a boat called Malus just shows how good the education system is in Brum, if you ask me
  14. Its called plane wilt (Ceratocystis fimbriata f. platini) there is no practical treatment at the moment, it will infect a tree through a bark wound normally in the crown and move down the tree and can take a few years to kill the host but once it reaches the root area if the tree is in an avenue, the infection moves via root grafts with the neighbouring trees, the then can move and very very quickly kill the next in line ( less the 12 months), moving up the avenue at a pace. currently its not in the UK
  15. There used to be a bloody fantastic curry house on one of the side roads just over the Westminster bridge, won all sorts of awards, unfortunately I dont know if its still there Yup that follows my memories of the place but tbh the port was very tribal and it definitely wasn't a pub for a bloke from the other side of town
  16. The nearest pub used to be known as somewhere to hire a lady of negotiable affections and the rest of the pubs in town weren't exactly havens for a quiet pint, have they improved? Speaking as an ex resident of the town

  20. On the way back home we would just as likely to be thrown off the bus for simply smelling
  21. Got stopped years ago by one of those highway agency census/questionnaire takers, transit, chipper, 3 blokes, climbing kit, chainsaws, plus all the various bits and pieces of daily work life and one of the questions was "Could you use public transport to complete your journey?"
  22. There is a down arrow next to it click on that and it should say CWDF default and shift (or at least mine does) click on the one not highlighted and see what happens
  23. At the very bottom of the page is a menu called theme, click on that and select the new theme
