  1. Seriously though.....this is a banter I shall be sorry to miss, as the week between Christmas and New year can be wearing. I shall be glued to the Movember thread in anticipation. Jan
  2. Won't be able to make it to this one so will miss the new look Bazza......though the tash is almost worth deserting the family for! Lemon

  5. Seriously.....although I was joking with my previous comment......I really don't understand what the friend function does. As a forum member you can join in any of the discussions, and if you need to speak to someone privately you PM them. Is there something that I am missing?
  6. I have a friend......you need to catch up!
  7. Me neither......I've been wondering what the point of them is.... do you just collect them? What do you do with them once you have them, and how many do you need to make a full set? Lemon
  8. I've moored both above Kings Lock and on the arm a number of times and had no problem with either. Much prefer the arm though, as the road runs parallel above the lock and we always seem to end up next to the bus stop. Jan
  9. This thread is making me really hungry......sat waiting for a train with only a packet of polos. I should have bought some sweet potatoes while I was out...I won't be happy with anything else when I get home. edited .....because of phone induced repetition
  10. I love sweet potatoes. I haven't tried baking them yet though. I love the skin on ordinary baked potatoes.....can you eat the skin on sweet potatoes or is it too tough? Jan
  11. Congratulations.....enjoy! This time of year the stove is what counts ....the rest are only trimmings! Lemon

  19. I had an hour on a day boat, two months before I picked up my boat. I had my eldest son with me who had never been on a boat of any kind and whose enthusiasm was scary. After sitting in the boat in the marina drinking tea (hadn't brought anything else) for several hours, I realised that I was going to have to move, or book the boat into the marina for ever. Getting out of the marina was the most traumatic bit as we couldn't have been further away from the exit, and were surrounded by lots of shiny 'pride and joys', and I couldn't see how I was going to get my 'pride and Joy' out without disaster......but I did, and umpteen locks, two changes of crew ( all as clueless as me) and five days later I got my boat home. I must have been overtaken by absolutely everyone else on the system, but I took my time and learned as I went. I met loads of lovely people, and knew right from the beginning that I had made the right decision. Two years on I think that being thrown in at the deep end was the best thing that could have happened to me. Just go for it. Sorry I can't be there to help......Happy locking Jan
  20. Thanks, I recognise the name..... someone I was chatting with a while ago recommended him for something else, but didn't have the number with them. I will get in touch as I think he is not far from me. Jan
  21. Hi...... I have been considering fitting a backboiler to my Morso Squirrel since I got the boat two years ago. I know I will never get round to attempting it myself, so I need to get someone local to do the job. I want the backboiler to heat water and a radiator at the back of the boat. Perhaps I am asking it the wrong question, but my laptop isn't coming up with anything useful. Anyone know of anyone? Jan
  22. Don't knock it.....this is my preferred method of navigation, and it very rarely lets me down......just don't tell anyone your eta! Sorry to hear about your car. Headjog .... sent a pm. Happy to do whatever, just let me know when you know. Jan
