  1. If you mean GPs, Dentists and the like then I certainly agree. I have a relation who through health issues needs their teeth sorted out. We just can’t get anNHS dentist for love nor money.
  2. As has been said, be careful what you wish for. Is ex- member a change of screen name or is the OP an ex member by choice or force?
  3. The person I refer to, and not saying it’s the same person, is now resident on moorings adjacent to a ‘very helpful’ boatyard on the L&L where we had a new alternator fitted late last year.
  4. Sounds like a similar person and situation I found myself in whilst in Skipton several years ago.
  5. I’d keep quiet, keep me gob shut and stay where I am if I’m happy with the deal that I have had for two years. Another thought. If………you get a refund, then you have enjoyed two years mooring at no cost, you shouldn’t be surprised if the actual land owner is unaware of this that he comes hunting you for two years mooring cost that might actually be more than you have paid. He may even do that if you don’t get a refund. Have CRT received any contributions from this arrangement?

  7. In my limited boating years I have only purchased two boats. Owned the present boat nye on eighteen years. I had full surveys on both. I Definitely agree there’s seems to be little comeback on the surveyor if anything goes wrong more than ten seconds after you have taken possession of the keys. However, it does give you an indication that there may be something you don’t want to take on. If……..I were to buy another boat I would certainly NOT have a full survey. Just a hull survey. If the seller has a survey less than two years old I would look at it and form an opinion for myself. Its always buyer beware.
  8. I bought some central heating anti freeze, not cheap. Mentioned to an Eberspacher ‘expert’ and he said it’s a very big no no. It doesn’t do the unit any good at all. Now got bog standard antifreeze. Anyone want nearly five litres of CH anti freeze.
  9. I wouldn’t pay £500 for them. I don’t have £500. But to a non traditional expert they are not too bad in my view. I would feel inclined to paint the handles.
  10. We had a similar, not the same, issue recently. Replaced Alde gas boiler with an Eberspacher diesel. Lots of crud etc. ended up replacing the rads and pipework. The muck mucked up the Eberspacher all the time even though we drained and refilled a number of times. All okay now, touch wood.

    12v TV

We had a Cello. We had a 12v sound system. A cheapy one. It was fine. The telly broke. We bought a AVTEX. As with many small tellys the sound quality was poor. We bought a sound bar from Curry’s. It plugs into the telly. (USB). Very happy with it,
  12. I’m sure an Estate agent would be happy to get a cleaning team in, at your cost if requested. Never had the need personally.
  13. It’s a nice boat. If you’re a bit handy you can fix items. The Gardner is a good engine. As are the boat builders of both boats. As has been mentioned, don’t hang about. View the survey as offered. If it looks okay make a judgement. You won’t have a comeback to the surveyor, unless they agree to. Many people buy without survey. If you decide on having a survey, it’s up to you of course, May I say in my experience a full survey is money wasted. A hull and perhaps engine survey would do me. Rugby boats have a great reputation as far as I can see. I have no reason to think they wouldn’t guide you in the correct direction. (That’s my limited reputation gone!) ETA. The bed pulls out as well. We did this to our bed a couple of years ago, after 16 years of ownership. It has made afifference. Wife can now sleep without having to touch me!!
  14. I know someone who has bought from Whilton twice. Been happy with his purchases. He buys to live on and does them up and sells them. Has a five year plan which seems to be working for him. I wouldn’t buy from Whilton, not in a month of Sundays. Personal experience. Both those boats at RBS look really good. I would go for Hattie if I had the choice. But I haven’t so I won’t. Boats are more costly than they used to be before you know what!
  15. We viewed a boat for sale many moons ago. It had a concrete floor instead of boarding. We didn’t buy it.
  16. No need to start calling me names!
  17. The previous owner of our boat had a much heavier engine installed. Brought the bow up considerably I reckon. I have considered ballast and have not, as yet, got around to it.
  18. Old railway track is good. That’s the steel bits not the wooden sleepers.
