  1. What are those "things" on the roof? Thought I knew a little bit about boats but can't fathom those.
  2. Hey, it's easily done, part of the joys of boating. The bearing was probably past it's best but has been destroyed by the rudder shaft being forced upwards. Pass a rope through the hole in your rudder, holding the rope in one hand and the tiller, fairly low down, with the other and you'll do it. Trust me......
  3. Persevere and you should get it back in the cup. Yes the top bearing is history but that can be done later. Try to moor somewhere where a helper (with a good eye) can direct you i.e. left a bit, etc. You will manage it eventually. Maybe you can use a handy moored boat so your helper can get good line of sight.
  4. I've had this, sounded like a fairly serious mechanical noise, turned out I'd picked up a discarded dog lead around the prop shaft. The "serious " noise was the metal clip whacking the underside of the weed hatch baffle plate. Glad no one was around 'cos I actually laughed out loud when I found it.
  5. Just what I was thinking, everyone on the planet has a camera in their pocket.

  8. Well, job done for the moment and I guarantee it won't leak but less than happy with it. Knew they came in different diameters but didn't realise they were also different in thickness. Had to get one of those diamond blades for the angle grinder and pare about 1/8" off the bottom flange. The scarring left by this can be seen through the glass. Not one of my most successful jobs.....

  10. Replacing a deck light on HATFIELD, pleased there's only one to do but I have got it moving. Interestingly this breakage was due to impact damage between the tug and a concrete edge on the offside. (No, not me at the helm) ? I'll post a follow up later.

  16. He's definitely a better man than you.?
  17. Lol, shouldn't that have been in "another senior moment"?

  20. Well he must be Dr Jekyl when he logs on here then. In around 14 years as a member on this forum, I've only once had reason to report a post. If memory serves, was only the third he made, removed by a mod before it was able to upset the female member it was aimed at.
  21. Reading between the lines, I'd guess that Emily is as new to boating as she is to this forum and you think that's an acceptable response to a first post? You really do appear to have a problem with females.
  22. Also, remarkably shallow draughted to say it's carrying all those traction batteries. Almost like it can't be true......
  23. Believe another term is Phenolic ply, if that's the same stuff.
  24. Tut tut tut tut......(shaking head) used to be such a nice, middle aged person.......
