  3. Sounds a batty rule to me. I make a couple of inches a week in the engine bilge, thanks to having an old fashioned non draining cruser stern. No problem if you can pump it out overboard, but not much fun otherwise - do they expect you to take the boat out once a month to empty the thing? I want to know what your marina does to keep its water clean - most marina's I know are connected to canals, and the water in them seems more than a little murky... anyway, the water out of most showers and sinks is nastier than the contents of my bilge, at any rate - I presume you are allowed to empty the sink.
  4. Interesting views. I'm just about to do the cabin floor with 6" ceramic tiles - theory goes that they will be easy to clean and hard wearing. Not cheap - including top grade flexible adhesive, the bill is looking around £200 for 5sq metres. I did have laminate, but had to take it up to do work, and it didn't survive the treatment. New laminate would have been cheaper, but IMHO it tends to look tacky anyway.

  10. That is the simplest option. I assume that you have common cabin/engine batteries, otherwise you may need somthing to control the charging relay that seperates the cabin and engine batteries.
  11. I've just been looking at mulimap round Stafford services - looks to me like its is probably the T&M again,
  12. http://www.multimap.com/s/QTDMjYwH The M6 crosses the T&M at Sandbatch.

  16. There is a submarine styled narrowboat moored in Bollington on the Macc - currently bears the name Nautilus. I'll have to get a picture next time I go past - it could be one of those, or it could be someones custom built...
  17. I then followed this up with an email asking if he had any idea on the name, and was told: So it looks like I've got a 50/50 chance of owning El Dorado. The only boat with that name on Jim's boat listing pages now is a GRP cruser, so I presume that the original El Dorado was renaimed at some point... Any hirer's or boat show goers with comment to make?

    Ice

Tap water with a dash of washing up liquid has always been fine for me. It only costs about 5p to fill the bottle that way.
  19. I don't know which part of the country your in, but unless your boat is really short would you mind letting me in on the location of moorings at that price? I've not yet heard of anywhere under about £800 pa even for a small narrowboat like mine.
  20. Nice to see hear of another cloud that is still about. I contacted Blue Haven about her, and spoke to a very helpful chap who had worked for Rugby Boat Builders when she was built. I'll post up the email he sent me next time I'm online from a Pc. Sadly, he couldn't manage a positive i.d. for her. I just looked at the windows, but unless I'm reading wrong they aren't original as they are all dated '84. I wonder if she had the dreaded 70s slatted glass when built - having looked at several windows, all the dates are the same, so clearly someone had cause to replace the lot.
  21. My engine has a fan, but it is crankshaft driven - standard fitment to air cooled Listers.
  22. Is there going to be an emissions test? If the tests were conducted with modern engined boats, I rather suspect that the effects of the air cooled lister brigade may come as a little of a supprise... I'm going to try and do it at some point under my own power if possible.
