  1. Was there any kind of helming on the other boats, I can just imagine the plastic tub fish tailing on the end. Good for them Tim

  4. THe problem with jubilee clips is that they leak eventually and then you have to start again.
  5. I vote for rigger boots, quick to pull on and off, steel toecap and nice and warm. Tim
  6. Does anyone know what size the threads are on an aqaking? I am going to replace the leaky hose bodge with tap connectors, which is what Daniel has done. I dont want to disconnect the pump until I have to, hence the question.

  8. Is that one for each time it has been blacked? 10 years old?
  9. Or you could keep on waiting and waiting, and not haveing a boat to use. If you buy now you can use the boat for an extra bit of boating. Tim

  11. It would only be a few say 3 or 4 hours work for me to do and I am a wally. If you fancy it yourself then you would need a jigsaw, drill and patience. Careful planing would be needed to ensure that there are no supporting struts in the bit you choose. They are normally spaced at 12inch or something. If you look down the lenght of the boat you might be able to see where they have been welded to the sheet metal. Tim
  12. Sounds quite reasonable to me. What wood are you having it made from. If it is hardwood and glazed then the price seems about right. I would think a cover for the semi trad would be a about £200/250. I have a semi trad but I dont have a cover for the back. I have not seen a solution that does not collect water or have some kind of upright pole. Can I ask what the reasons are for the cover at the back? A friend described their back cover like having to crawl out of it like a rat. Tim
  13. So you applied for a new licence in Nov for Jan and now you are being charged as if you had bought in Jan. That does not seem right, and you should tell them so. Unless it is in there terms and other boring documents that I have not bothered to read. Tim
  14. Please dont drink battery acid, it is nothing like beer. The hangover leaves a buring feeling in your stomach for some time
  15. I only remove the chimney when I know that there is a chance of loosing it. I have mine on the right of the boat beacuse of the design of the rest of the boat. Dont worry too much, as you will only loose one chimney before you attach chain to it. I dont know about draw, the only suggestion is to carefully expermient (CO detector close to hand with windows open) Tim
  16. Sounds like the wild west up there. I am glad im on the lovely K&A.

  18. snake oil? This was enough to put me off Until I read the customer reviews and I am now convinced by its rust eating termite power. I would have to see it to believe it as lots of products get tested by the army
  19. Thats a bit defeatist! Or maybe a wolf gazing at a moon, you could buy a t-shirt to go with it. Check out the reviews here clicky link to what this is all about
  20. It was moored in Bradford on Avon on the K&A. I saw him moving it in a rather wobbly path, I think that he had been enjoying a refreshing beer or two. Lovely boat, but too much hassle for me.
  21. I am sure that you could make one yourself if you wished and didnt mind mild steel. I think that stainless would be a pain to drill. bend it around something roundish and then use very large hose clamps to hold it in place. Shims/brackets made out of steel could keep the guard away from the flue. I should not lake more than a day, even with my cludging. If you were artistic you could even drill the holes in a pattern? Tim
  22. looks beautiful. I would be tempted too, if it was larger than my current 45ft.
  23. Didnt daniel get one for his student room? I think that might have been for extending the light though
  24. When I looked a boats I wondered what the effect of two fatties on the same side of the boat would be. I never got a proper answer from the broker. In the end I bought a boat that has a narrow passage which prevents fatties from entering the bedroom.
  25. And it is something else to polish. When my last chimney rotted away I made a double skin out of 0.7mm stainless from Avery Knight in Bath for a whopping cost of £8. the innner and outer are not joined but I dont have any problems now with tar. 4 months on and it looks fine. I pop riveted it together. In hind sight I should have used stainless rivets as the rivets in the liner got eaten very quickly.
