  1. They do a plastic version which is white n light. Probably available in places like B&Q, Wickes, etc.
  2. Apart from batteries have a leak, rust quickly when not filled straight after you remove water from them, and when filling a good percentage of the water evaporates!
  3. Sounds like you’ve connected the shunt connections the wrong way round
  4. It’s a lot on a category A waterway (by accepted marine standards)
  5. We try and stop scruffs getting into the boat as valuables are usually in the boat and they don’t want the boat itself. Cars are different as the car is the thing they usually want.
  6. Only the cheap euro locks are vulnerable, you can get a 3 star cylinders which aren’t.
  7. Mine (Nest) does a self test including the sensors everytime you turn the lights out and shines orange if something is amiss (green if okay) and another self test every month which sends you a notification that all is okay or amiss.
  8. If it doesn't have BS EN 50291, then it probably not a good quality CO alarm! CO alarms aren't serviceable (bar batteries), they have a shelf life.
  9. If you have two 6v batteries just add them in series. Or a redneck way : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVkv_oVtG3w
  10. My 10+year old multiplus (12/2000/120) uses around 0.8amp on stand by.
  11. Brings back to the days when the BBC has similar content
  12. Not used them myself but https://bedazzledledlighting.co.uk have been mentioned a few times on CWDF.
  13. Looks interesting. Anyone got any woodworking ones to recommend?
  14. Ofcourse alot higher voltage so the arc would be a lot more, at 12v it be a arc nothing to write home about, not even at christmas.
  15. I wouldn't trust the readings from with the "mysterious battery drain" thread. Different models will have different standby's. The more expensive the model doesn't mean the better the standby as it will probably have features that make the standby worse (Victron Quattro's are worse than the multis, etc).
  16. Victron and Mastervolt are good makes with decent low standby.
  17. Been watching a few electrical type Youtube videos of late, here's my favourite channels.. ElectroBOOM - https://www.youtube.com/user/msadaghd Quite amusing educational videos - if physics teachers were more like this more kids would pay attention in class! Good for basic electrics. BigCliveDotCom - https://www.youtube.com/user/bigclivedotcom More into taking apart cheap Chinese junk to see how they are put together and how. Good if you want to get into electronics or you just like taking apart stuff. John Ward - https://www.youtube.com/user/jjward/ Covers same areas as BigCliveDotCom, just different. Anyone got anything else to recommend.
  18. Here's an exciting youtube video of the DC vs AC switching...
  19. The cable from 86 to ground is part of the "switch" circuit so this doesn't need to be as thick either.
  20. This is what I mean.... 87 and 30 are swappable, but the switch needs to be fed from the fuse board side. The cable to from the switch (from 87/85 pins) doesn't need to as thick as the cable from the board to the pump as pumps like to fed by decent size cable but it needs to within the ratings of the fuse at the distribution board. ie. if the fuse is 10amp, this bit of cable (and switch) needs to be rated above 10amp.
  21. pin 30 should be too the distribution board and 87 to the pump.
  22. Pump side... pin 30 to fuse/box battery 87 to pump (positive), pump negative to battery Switch can be done various methods, this is one way... 86 to negative 85 to switch positive to switch (positive can be taken from pin 30)
  23. Car ones are perfect for job. Like https://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equipment/fuses-electricals-fixings/halfords-hef555-relay-12v-40a-4-pin
