  1. How's it going to end???!!
  2. I think it's brilliant - the graphics people have done a terrific job!
  3. Sorry if it's been posted already:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-32257313 "Before sentencing, Williams said: "I regret what I did sincerely but it did have its moments. He said it was "a crazy time" but had been "a very silly thing to do"."
  4. Yup, the security blokes check you have the sticker.
  5. Just seen this. Cracking video Grommet. Beautiful boat with you in Keadby lock. Got to Debdale Wharf a day early. Cheers!
  6. It must be a unique dump, it's got the river on one side and the canal on the other. Very impressed when it was reopened, got a ramp, security guards, the lot! Feel like I should get dressed up to drop off my crap!
  7. Bloody waves! Came through Holme Lock at 3pm - Saturday so works finished, no delay. Took ages to get to Nottingham, really pushing the current all the way; very impressed with your progress.
  8. Thanks for the heads up. Good to meet you the other day at Keadby. Neil
  9. Many thanks for all the replies. I will mount the controller in the place where I planned. It's not a very small, confined space, it's just not got good ventilation. I'll keep a very close eye on it initially, particularly on a sunny morning with low batteries! Cheers Neil
  10. Hi does anyone have one of these controllers? Mine has arrived from Bimble, (2 x 250w panels to follow), and I'm wondering where to mount it. My question is, how warm/hot does it get when working? My preferred install location is in an enclosed space, but clearly that wouldn't be good if it needs to dump a lot of heat. Thanks for any info. BTW mine is the new model, 4215 BN. Cheers Neil
  11. Having spoken to the hirers who found the body, I would wholeheartedly agree Richard. Just heard the police have reopened the area, and boats are once again moving.
  12. Set off early this morning from Riley Green to get through Blackburn, at the first lock met a chap from Riley Green hire company who was meeting one of his hire boats travelling back to base. Apparently one of the hirers had found a body in the water yesterday (Sunday) lunchtime. The police arrived, searched their boat, wouldn't let them back on for eight hours. The canal was closed while divers searched for clues. CART national office were unaware there was a stoppage. Someone from the northwest office is supposed to be phoning me back to let us know what's happening. The canal is closed east of bridge 110. There is a small queue of boats waiting to journey onwards at Rishton. I will update when anyone tells us what's happening.
  13. I've been a PufferParts customer since I got my boat 16 years ago. Very handy for me as I live in Wakefield, so I can pick up by car or as we chug on by. Just want to say happy retirement, and thanks.

    Lucky old me?

Thanks for the replies. My rudder bottom bearing is a plain sleeve/cup type. In fact it's worn and causes a rattle at some (low) engine revs. It certainly felt like some big branch first hit the prop, then went on to knock the rudder out of its cup. Good to know this can happen, and doesn't indicate some problem, and double good to be so jammy as to get it back in again!
  15. Chuntering along the Coventry Canal today between Atherstone and Nuneaton, a sudden tonktonktonk noise followed by a big clunk, and the rudder felt very strange. Having had the rudder come out of its bottom bearing before, after a little tiff with a lock cill, I knew what had happened. I managed to pull the rudder up and after a few goes, reseated the rudder into the bottom cup on the skeg. So...... Am I very lucky to get the rudder reseated? And Is there something wrong that allows the rudder to move up and out of the skeg cup?

    Satellite

A quick eBay search for 12v satellite brought up this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Portable-65cm-Satellite-Dish-12v-receiver-and-cables-Caravan-Camping-/161031398236?pt=UK_ConEle_SatCableFreeview_RL&hash=item257e38235c A kit with receiver, dish, signal meter, 12v power lead. All you need is the cable connection to your TV, probably a Scart lead, and a method of lashing the dish to a pole.
  18. I think there's a club for people who've overshot the entrance by mistake, and then sh*t themselves wondering if the engine's up to getting them back. If there isn't, I'll start one.
  19. Thanks for the link, they look very smart. Just ordered a pair.
  20. Do you think you'll have to declare how much Uranium you use for propulsion, and how much for heating?
  21. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  22. Rooting through a few old VHS tapes the other day, I came across this recording of a YTV programme about a trip from Sowerby Bridge to Leeds. Quite interesting if you know the area, it was filmed in 2000.
  23. Don't drill a hole in the bottom of the boat to let the water out.
  24. Had another word with the Lockkeeper before we left this morning. He assured me he was not joking, in fact he was very concerned that this stupid plan would leave him homeless and jobless. Apparently the bigwigs had an on site meeting two months ago where the proposal was discussed and planned.
