  1. Thank you for your reply, I shall leave it on so it charges / monitors the batteries. Thanks. RF.
  2. Hello and good evening, I hope this quick question finds you in good health and good spirits. When I'm on shore power, I have a 230v pass through into my ring main with the inverter in the off position. The inverter is a combi charger and inverter. Should I have the inverter switched on constant to keep the batteries on charge ? Or would this burn through the metered electric needlessly ? Or should I have it on for three days and off for three days ? Three questions for the price of one, bargain. Thanks in advance. RF.
  3. Old Gimmer, ha ha ha ha 😄
  4. I guess we have to wait until the new year for exact details of eligibility, I doubt I'll be eligible, I spend most of the year in one part of the country on a boat but I'm officially registered as resident at someone else's house at the other side of the country for official mail and such like. I would assume I'll miss out because of it, otherwise that payment would be wide open to abuse. Not particularly worried though, never mind.
  5. Hiya, Thank you for the replies, for clarification I'd like a glass windowed fire, cast iron door oven and a flat steel / cast iron top plate. I'm just about to start googling your replies, It's been a long day, I'm hungry, but thank you so much for your replies.
  6. Hello, If anyone has any recommendations for a multifuel stove that has both a small oven and a hot plate for bunging a cast iron pot on i would be ever so grateful. I'm at a bit of a loss, I've found a couple but neither is floating my boat. No apologies for the pun. 😛 5KW plus, for a rather long narrow boat. Cheers.
  7. Another recommendation for Earith, Westview marina have a huge Hyster and are very nice people.
  8. Indeed, it could well be a BSPT - 8mm or a BSPP - 5/16" or someone with access to jet 1 fittings could have welded an NPTF fuel fitting on there, no thread sealant required.
  9. Possible but no one knows, take some measurements to be absolutely certain. No point having folk trying to guess a diameter from a photo, or what it should be on paper !
  10. At the moment you say you have a fine mist spraying of fuel. A fine spray on a hot surface is ignitable. So that fitting has to be safely removed and not used ever again, right now !
  11. Is it above the fuel level in the tank, can you remove it without all the fuel running out ?
  12. Take it off, measure it up as best you can and post up the sizes. So outside diameter of the copper pipe going in, and either inside diameter of the fitting or ! Outside diameter of the stub on the tank.
  13. Hello Ronaldo47, I'd be very interested in that link. Would there be any chance you could pm it to me ? Thank you.
  14. All good solid reasons, and you know the 818 would be the best. Personally i'd just make up some half aresed reasoning in my head and just buy one. Job done ! Right who's next for my sage like advice ? 😉
  15. Hi Loddon, whats your reason for change ? I changed mine for ZTE5001 just for the hell of it, also because i wanted the battery portability and i like the natty little LCD usage screen. Mostly for the battery though.
  16. Thank you for your advice, it looks like you've done a really good job there, thanks for posting.
  17. Could anyone please point me in the right direction to acquire a manual for this possibly 20 + year old controller. Any help much appreciated, thanks.
  18. Thanks for the help/ advice. So basically , make some nice new ones up, then rip out the old and glue in the new. Cheers.
  19. Good afternoon all, I hope we are all well and in good health. A quick question, I need to replace the woodwork on one of my hatches, it wood appear that the woodwork is actually MDF, and as you wood expect, utterly shite at keeping damp out. Its blown with the moisture and is in need of replacing. My quick question is how wood it be attached to the steel doors ? This is before I rip it off and then realise I have no way of bolting it shut again. I'll be replacing it with actual wood, varnished and sealed from moisture. Any help, advice very much appreciated. Apologies for the excessive use of wood in the wrong context, however it amuses me so tough. Cheers all.
  20. Hello and good evening, I hope you are in good health. You appear to be a very knowledgeable person, I have a question for you if I may ? What type and weight of anchor would you suggest for a 50' - 60' narrowboat if storage were no issue and the correct eyebolt installed with a suitable load spreading device on the bow. Thanks in advance.

  22. Good evening folks, I'm in Hertfordshire and I really need some recommendations for a working boat yard, where I can re-fit my ageing narrowbeam vessel. I don't need to stay overnight but I need an in water boat yard allowing me to use many very noisy powertools ( via generator ~) no shore power required. Thank you all.
  23. That's because you obviously wound the heating up to 11 and snapped the knob off. ?
