  2. Some insurers require a survey every few years for boats that reach a certain age. Haven Knox-Johnston currently don't ask for this , as long as they have a survey they don't require further surveys as long as you stay with them . In my case the survey they had on file from a previous owner sufficed. The premium isn't too bad either.

  5. Would a permanent floor be a problem as the trim of the 2 separate boats would fluctuate with the amount of much water was in the respective tanks?

  9. Google "fish and chip shops closing" and you will see reports of massive potential closures. Energy costs up, oil up, ingredients up. They can't always pass the full costs on to customers who can't afford it. £14.50 per person for a takeaway chippy would be a big problem for lots of people who used to buy from them.

I think boating can be good for mental health. An angle CRT could pursue. If you are focused on an engine service or working a lock, you don't have headspace for anything else. Boating mindfulness.
  11. Fish and chips used to be a traditional working class treat, often on a Friday night. £14.50 would be a bit (lot to) much, though I know costs all round have increased massively and lots of chip shops are questioning their future.

The figures in the link relate to drops in numbers to 2003, but I don't think much, if anything, will have been changed to help since then, apart from some tightening up on some chemicals. As a kid in the 70s sparrows in the garden we're ubiquitous. Now hardly ever seen. I don't think that's all the fault of cats.

I don't really ike cats but I'm on their side here. Ecosystems aren't just prey v predators but also the environment that live in. The biggest factor in the decline in garden birds over the last couple of decades has been the changes to agricultural practices. https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/advice/how-you-can-help-birds/where-have-all-the-birds-gone/is-the-number-of-birds-in-decline/#:~:text=Extensive research has shown that, primarily by changes in agriculture.&text=This has led to%3A,to increase the planted area
  15. I've heard the owner is set in old fashioned ways. Not sure if it still applies but a couple of years ago it was cash only and mobiles phone use was banned.

Is that poached the cooking technique, or caught illegally? Or both?
  18. The best "gravy" I've ever had is a recipe from a vegetarian restaurant called food for friends. Slowly cooked, worked through a sieve, wine or port involved. Probably more of a sauce than a traditional gravy but bloody good and works with meat or vegetarian dishes. Also lots of gravy granules are vegan, if that's what you need for a quick meal.
  19. Not sure how it's going to get blacked from there, though the developers have a bob or two to do it, if they know it needs doing. On another note, those apartment price are bonkers. Saying nothing more here as I don't want it to get political.
  20. Apart from swimming in sewage, Weils disease is a separate and serious concern. There was a recent incident reported in a thread here about @tree monkey I think, that brought home how serious it could be. Fortunately okay but it could have been pretty serious without any intervention.
