I cannot see how C&RT can enforce anything when they won't stipulate the conditions. I they dont set distances, times etc. how do people know what to stick to. Also, if you have a home mooring, are you excused. Can you basically do what you want because you aren't on the CC hit list? Totally confused with the whole thing.

I'm moored clos eto a boat that forever has a haze of funny smelly stuff wafting from it. It's painted (and I use that word loosely) battle ship grey primer. The owners have more than 2 staffies (never sure if its 3 or 4). The couple on it look like a throw back to new age hippies. And you couldn't meet a nicer pair of people! I got my letter today and funnily enough, I was told yesterday the C&RT boat checker was out and about in Uxbridge with his computer. Good thing I have my winter towpath mooring, my boat has only moved to the water and fuel places in 3 months! Does anyone know what happened about thae C&RT plans to divide the canal into 'sections' or 'stages' and you had to move at least into the next one to be in compliance. There were maps showing them on the c&RT website but they seem to have dissapeared. I thought that was one of their better ideas.

I wish mine came up to deck level, it's an utter pig to get to. And my trad has a bloody great door in the ER bulkhead. Would sink very easily with the weed hatch off.

I have fitted a spin on filter adaptor as I couldn't be arsed with the original. I ended up with more oil in the bilges than in the filter!

Buy a hole punch set and some gasket material and never worry about not having a gasket again. To be honest I've used cornflakes packets and hermatite successfully before.

Slight thread hijack - Funnily enough last night my friend and I were talking about going up the Thames from the Grand Union to get to the Kennet & Avon. The EA website is not very infprmative as in it just has RED (Moor up) YELLOW (Better get ready to moor up), and WHITE ( Everything is OK) symbols. Nothing like current speeds or timings. My boat only does about 4.5 - 5 mph so a current of 5 knots would have me going backwards. Any good sites for river Thames information for boaters that people recommend?

I quite enjoyed it. Yes I've seen much better about canals but as a light weight watch it was OK. It wasn't a patch on the Tim and Pru series though, not really because of the content but beacuse their love of the canals comes through with the narration. I think there were many better people they could have got to front this series.

I suppose if I had forked out for a 10 year moorings lease I'd be blaming everyone excepot the marina in the hope I wouldn't lose my money.
