  1. Yes, but it will need licence, safety cert and insurance. Not sure how efficient they be at catching you if you didn't bother with any of those things...
  2. Did your surveyor tell you that after forgetting to check the engine? lol. I've never known a surveyor to not check an engine during a "normal" survey.
  3. Are you sure she isn't Chris Pink?
  4. I bet the folk at Whilton love getting tons of people turning up for a day out browsing boats that they have no intentions of buying. It's no wonder most of the boats there look a mess with sightseers traipsing through all day.
  5. I've never seen a wallpapered boat that doesn't look awful.
  6. Don't get overwhelmed by all the advice you have been given in this thread, and don't assume it is all good advice and comes from knowledgeable sources.
  7. Yes, but not much more than a 12v fridge on it's own. How do you plan to power a 12v fridge for a week without charging?
  8. I found the difference between my 12v fridge and my new 240v one to be not noticeable, I don't monitor these things in minute detail though. What do you think the difference in power usage would be? If you are pushing your setup to the limit so that a small difference matters, you are probably also killing you batteries.
  9. If a CCer needs to worry about the small difference between a 12v and a 240v fridge, then they must have an insufficient battery/charging setup.
  10. Fridge being 240v doesn't matter If the boat is below budget and you really like it, get an eberspacher and a few rads fitted. This will provide a backup form of heating and hot water. Cassette toilets are better. Do you really want a big tank of poo under your bed with a chance of it leaking/smelling?

  12. Are Aintree a well respected builder?
  13. At the start of the poll, liveaboards took quite a lead, but as the thread has progresses liveabanks (?) have caught up and overtaken. Can we deduce from this that the liveaboards are more active on the forum, joining in as soon as the poll was posted, and the liveabanks are less active and reading the forum less often
  14. They don't even need to use an "app" to communicate using encryption. The security services have no way of differentiating between encrypted traffic that is people conversing and other encrypted traffic. You really don't seem to understand the subject at hand. I would suggest you do a bit of research so that you can fully understand that it is literally impossible for them to ban encrypted communications without shutting down the Internet.
  15. Again, impossible to implement without shutting down most of the Internet. Maybe you don't realise quite how much encryption is used.
  16. But then the bad people would just use another carrier that isn't compromised, or send the encrypted messages directly to each other. There is no way of enforcing a full ban on encrypted communications between individuals.
  17. I'm short like a hobbit. If I was giant I would get rid of the cross bed.
  18. I prefer cross beds, firstly for the same reason as Athy (I also have a fairly short boat) but I also like to have a bedside table which is awkward with a lengthways bed.
