  1. Maybe, but would be surprised as reconditioned unit from RCR last year when I changed it from a D3. only done 100 hours.
  2. Hello All, I have sought advice from Vetus, Aquadrive, Pythondrive and centa and only had a reply from Vetus so thought I would turn to you lovely people! From day one of owning a secondhand widebeam there has been an intermittent clatter from the driveline/ prop. I bit disconcerting initially but now just bloody irritating. Seems worse in shallow water but always there to one degree or another. Seems more like resonance than linked to actual rpm as comes and goes. After recently realigning the engine it is better but still there. The boat is 57ft by 12ft with a draft of 2.5ft and a weight of circa 37 tonnes. The engine is a Shire 65, Yanmar 4TNV98, maximum 2600rpm, 69hp. The gearbox is a Newage PRM260D2. Attached pictures show the current setup. The engine is at the top of the engine mounts which I know is not ideal as this allows the engine to move excessively so was thinking about putting 15 or 20mm spacers in to allow for dropping the engine on the mounts. However, the engine exhaust is currently hard up against the floor of the wheelhouse soundproofing so I quite like the idea of an Aquadrive or Pythondrive which would allow me to drop the engine without fitting spacers. Although I do not have so much room as you can see attached. Any suggestions/ advice would be very much appreciated?
  3. Lovely piece of craftsmanship. Well done! Just not sure it would look right on mine being all steel. Certainly compliments the wood wheelhouse on that one.
  4. was thinking about one of these; https://www.webasto.com/gb/markets-products/marine/roof-solutions/roof-solutions/80-120-series/ I appreciate the security risk but if they want to get in they will anyway. I have big windows in the wheelhouse which I'm conscious are a security risk themselves.
  5. Hi, Has anybody fitted a webasto or similar sunroof to a widebeam? Any personal experience would be very much appreciated. Thanks John
  6. Theres only one thing for it ........ Max and NW on Jeremy Kyle ......... lets have the air cleared.
  7. Can just picture the scene. Bright sunny day on the cut, genny running on the tow path and drone buzzing noisily over head! ......... pass the 12 bore!
  8. congratulations Geo ....... couldnt have gone to a more worthy contender!
  9. We don't need more signs! I'm relatively new to boating but have lost count of how many times I have read about how 'life threateningly dangerous' locks can be. Even well maintained locks due to risks of fenders snagging on ladders or boats on overhangs etc. Therefore we must not allow ourselves to be distracted and maintain our concentration at all times whilst using them. Sound advice it is too. Yet how many times do you see boaters chatting with there new found friends often not even looking at their boat until their OH yells when something is not right. We should enter every lock with the mind set that all of the horrible incidents we have read about could happen to us and conduct ourselves accordingly. After all we wouldnt drive down the M1 with a cup of tea in hand chatting with the passengers in the back seat whilst making eye contact. Here we have a guy who remembered that he hard turned his windlass exactly 6 times, new that it took exactly 44 turns to open the paddle fully but clearly neglected to keep an eye on his boat. It really pisses me off that in this day and age so many think that everything that goes wrong is somebody elses fault? And before any smart arses say 'well lets just hope it never/ or does happen to you and see if you feel differently then'. It may well, as with the best of intentions I am just as guilty as most of being easily distracted when I should know better but I am certain I wont be looking to blame anybody else.
  10. ?!? couldn't give a toss just interested?! hmmmmm mm eneough said!
  11. I'm going to have to stop coming on here! ........ thats £68 youve just cost me! ........ bought 3! ...... I know I needed them. Thanks for the reminder!
  12. awwww dont! Im paying £40 for 40Gb locked in until October 2017! £40.99 to be precise.
  13. So its your fault the rest of us are now having to suffer under propping!
  14. Thanks for that Tony. I hope I havent already damaged the batteries as I know I have been down to 12 to 12.1 volts which I thought was 50%. I didnt realise I needed to keep the voltage as high as 12.3. Mind it was under load so maybe all is still ok. One of the problems is that my boat is quite power hungry. The alarm and central heating are all 240V AC so the inverter is ALWAYS on when off grid and moored. However, I will switch it off this weekend to try. Thanks correction:- the alarm isnt AC but it is always on. The central heating is however AC
  15. Lets talk about it in private! Im a good listener!!
  16. Believe me Ive read most of them! Some of it sticks n some doesnt. The conclusion in most seems to be to buy a smartgauge but I'm trying to avoid it.
  17. I didnt! Although I probably would! It was on the boat when I bought it. The charger was dropping into float far too soon so I increased the trigger voltage from 13.6 to 14.0V
  18. I'm happy to WotEver. Its just the MICC isnt. I can manually reset just was hoping the equipment was intelligent enough for me not to have to. Also with manual reset, as the batteries are new, I am not sure if the cycles counter works. It doesnt appear to as I must have completed at least one full cycle by now but it is still showing zero. It would be a shame to loose that feature by manually resetting.
  19. Can you? of course you can ....... Should you? You should do whatever makes you happy within reason! ...... Whatever floats your boat as they say! ........ Seems to me you were hoping to stir up some anti mod cons brigade. Like another poster has already mentioned I find it hilarious how many advocating back to nature lifestyles are posting on here. Then again the individuals living with granite work tops, jacuzzis, power showers, servants quarters probably believe they are living a minimalistic lifestyle. Bet theres not many on here who dont have power showers, or should I say pumped showers.
  20. It does thanks. I will give it a go this weekend, Although I fear the problem is to do with the return amps never getting back to what theoretically has been taken out. The MICC requires 3 conditions to be met before it will return to 100% charge. 1) Charge amps <2% of domestic bank capacity. 2) Charge voltage >13.6V and 3) Ah consumed 0. It is 3 that is never achieved. As stated previously typically -50Ah per cycle. However, thanks again for posting. I will try along with other good suggestions made earlier. ........ so you have also had a MasterVolt MICC? lol the screen is very small. Maybe the final outcome will be to purchase a BM2 t install alongside.
  21. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  22. I'll give it a go thanks. The MasterVolt MICC is supposed to be self learning but as it looses roughly 10% every cycle it is easy to loose track. Worse still the used Ah count looks ridiculous as it doesnt reset so loosing -50Ah every cycle even before you start.
  23. No, I didn't miss the 'resync'. That is something I must do after every discharge and recharge cycle otherwise after only 3 cycles it will be way out and can be totally confusing. I guess what you are saying is after the resync it will be the best accuracy you are going to get. So to put it into a working example. I currently have 6 110Ah batteries. If I did such test and came up with 500Ah, just for arguments sake. If I then changed my battery bank capacity setting from 660 to 500 is it likely to be more accurate for subsequent cycles?
