  1. Just as works are due to be completed to the sinkhole on the Wigan Flight another sinkhole has been found between New Lane swing bridge (br 31) and Crabtree swing bridge (br 32) and the repairs are expected to take 3 weeks.
  2. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  3. It seems that quite a few of the boats received caution forms for dirty cabins and painting required.
  4. 40 tonnes of clay has been used so far in the sinkhole and another 40 tonnes was being delivered this morning.I I hope it is not one of the mine shafts in the area.
  5. Does anyone bother to report them to CaRT?
  6. Deliveries of clay were being made this morning presumably to fill in the sinkhole and were blocking the towpath. Loads of CaRT vehicles and contractors diggers were spread out over the towpath and the nearby industrial estate. It certainly looks like CaRT are attempting to get the work complete as soon as possible.
  7. Four Counties ring. If you get in front you have options to explore other canals.
  8. Have a browse through the narrowboatwill vlog as he has been in that area.
  9. There is also a good chippy near Kings lock.
  10. We only used fenders when mooring up.
  11. A lot will depend on what time you can set off on the boat and also what time you have to return it. As it does not go dark until about 10pm at that time of year you could do a longer day if needed as you may get in queues at the locks. You should have enough time providing you do not stop at a pub twice a day.
  12. The winding hole moorings look like they will be a popular overnight stop.
  13. Our first hire boat holiday was from L & L Cruisers at Adlington. It would have been during the 1970s.
  14. Turn a tap on and follow the sound of running water back to the water tank and then look for the inlet.
  15. If you do want to purchase jump leads I would suggest you buy the extra long heavy duty type as you never know when you may need them.
  16. Get to know who your neighbouring boaters use in emergencies.

Have you asked any passing boats for a tow in that direction. No harm in asking and you may be lucky to get a tow part way if not all the way.

I think that you need to look at a canal map and explain where you are intending to go as it is confusing.

I think that is the marina next to Plank Lane lift bridge. Also known as Bickershaw marina.

I read it that he had only put the boat back in water 24 hours ago.

Ask a passing boater if they can help.
