  1. Hello, My Numax battery charger only ever charges to a maximum of 13.1V and always says "equalize charge" on the LCD display but isn't it only supposed to equalize charge once the batteries are full? Is this sufficient or are my batteries not being charged properly? Regards Mitch
  2. great thanks for the replies so nothing wrong with my panels then as I was worried. thanks - time to look for a generator as backup lol
  3. Afternoon, Came back to my boat last night and reading my volt meter (11.4) I have never seen it that low, I assumed there would be something wrong with the solar panels. Today I brought a new controller and I am still only getting about 12.5V even in direct sunlight when I would usually be getting 13V minimum. I checked the 2 leads coming from the solars and the voltage is 13.2V but this is not going to the batteries for some reason? When I do disconnect the charge controller the battery voltage does drop to around 12.1 so the solars are doing something? Is there anything this could be? Thanks
  4. Hello, I was wondering if anybody has had this done and at what cost, also is it usually done over the top of existing sides or roof taken off and new steel put on top? I have a 50ft harbour marine. Regards Mitch

  12. Hello, I have the old D5W heater (pic below) and would like to give it a service/decoke. As I purchased it 2nd hand and have found out it will need regular servicing due to my set up. I have searched on this forum and on the net but all the links that point to a manual or something have expired or ar broken links. Does anyone have a video or service manual for one of these units? Regards Mitch
  13. thanks for replies, it is the D5 model I have fitted. So apart from adding more radiators is there much I can do as I do not really have the space for an additional radiator?
  14. Hello, My eberspacher will run for about 10 mins on high power cycle and then switch between high/low power about every minute I understand this is because it has reached its temperature and goes into a lower power mode. After reading about these units I understand this is no good for the heater but how do I go about sorting this? There are TRVs on 2 of the 3 radiators but are always set to max 5 so would it make a difference if I change these to normal radiators valves? Or is there anything else I can do? It is worth saying that there isn't anything wrong with the eberspacher at present it is doing exactly as it should (heating up rads and hot water tank) but it constantly going from high-low power modes makes me think this cause an issue in the future. Regards Mitch
  15. Make sure he fits the waste towards the stern as the boat will slightly be sloping this way and you will have water pooling in the shower tray if not!
  16. I heard that if you use a non marine battery charger and something goes wrong with it ther is a possibility of it sending 240v through your 12v system. However marine battery chargers are protected from this

  18. There is an issue with strength that's why I have bottoned mine underneath, my biggest board was about 1m sq only supported around the perimeter, you was able to stand on it but ther was movement in the board. I have now put 2 38x25mm roof battens running along the board which has made it solid

  20. As title above, and I noticed today whilst working in the engine bay when it runs that some water comes out of the expansion valve on the calorifier. Is there anything I can do to stop this? Regards Mitch
