  1. It took me a while to adjust but cutting out dairy sorted out all my sinus problems so is obviously the right thing for me. I think everyone needs to do what is best for their own body. We all have different needs. I would have that deep fried on occasion - I never could manage being good all the time!

  6. I am afraid no mooring is a deal breaker for me. I'll put me cash back under the bed then.
  7. They do however distract the onlookers who then don't notice me make a right mess of things!
  8. Thanks for the link, that is now on my birthday must have list.
  9. I am making a mental note to reduce 'nagging' to once every 12 months..........
  10. i have a similar problem on my boat, my youngest lives there and to be honest I am going to have to give in and go over and give it a good clean out - I am told to stop hassling and it WILL get done but WHEN??? As you say, it is my boat and ultimately my responsibility <sigh>
  11. It is probably too late now but Quality Save and Wilko's in Sale also sell coal. I would second the recommendation of Liam though, he keeps most types of coal (and other supplies, it is worth checking his site out) at good prices.
  12. I would recommend finding a boat with a permanent bed. I share a 40 foot boat very happily with my husband and am glad it has a bed, the 'novelty' of making a bed up every night and unmaking it in the morning would very quickly wear off I think.
  13. I agree that Timperly/Sale is ok and Sale has the advantage of all the shops and easy access to the Metro if you decide to tram into work. Watchhouse is lovely though and well worth going the extra distance in my opinion No, I am not related to Richard - I just like Watchhouse, particularly at Halloween!
  14. I emailed asking the question but never received a reply.
  15. I believe that you have to have a permanent mooring to get a Platinum Licence, at least that is what I was told by Peter Parkinson when I phoned him. OK, I didn't phone him personally, he just happened to answer the phone when I rang - they do answer sometimes but you have to be patient!
  16. Don't forget really really good warm footwear. I have a cruiser stern and was comfortably warm cruising last weekend except for my feet. They froze solid and I have chilblains for the first time since i was a child.
  17. I recently spent a long time trying to work out what was dripping only to finally realise it was my husbands home made wine happily fermenting on the kitchen side.
  18. We have often used the instruments to ensure quiet moorings - once I get the violin out it goes very quiet very quickly lol. I hope to see you out there.
  19. It is sensible to keep an open mind but don't lose sight what will work for you. My husband and I are very happy in our 40 foot trad stern and have no plans to go bigger at present. I love being able to turn around more easily and nip into smaller mooring spaces and with less space there is less temptation to keep lots of clutter around. The minimalist lifestyle works for us, and we have several instruments on board
  20. Sounds like my boat..........
  21. I quite like the look of this one http://www.abcboatsales.com/boat-sales/nutmeg/
  22. My husband and I share a 40ft boat quite happily. If you are happy to live with the negative sides in order to gain from the postiives (both of which have been well covered here) then enjoy!
  23. Thanks, it does underline the fact that just being very careful yourself isn't enough. Alarms also help protect against other peoples boats. I am quite paranoid on this as our tiny half size lap dogs would succumb very quickly and I don't want to have to live with that.
  24. Any chance of a summary for those who can't access the link?
