  1. I can confirm he is, having just seen his reaction to Phil Neville's goal for Everton.
  2. Thanks for replying, if you want to contact me on 01543 374888 we can arrange a viewing.
  3. Thanks for you kind comments. I don't ming you quoting the article at all. Here is a link to the article which you were quoting: Resolute - Norton Canes Tug - Waterways World Article July 2006 We use the same method whether portholes or windows.
  4. This is a comment from Graham Edgson, Norton Canes Boatbuilders: Having just seen the statement made by Julynian, I find it difficult to understand where he/she is coming from making such rash comments about the quality of boats built by myself. Without going into detail (and giving away some of my secrets), I would like to invite Julynian to Norton Canes so that I can show them, and explain, in person how I achieve quality and precision, especially on the cabin sides, which seem to be his bone of contention. Putting cabin frames in only create problems when boats are coach painted to a high standard, showing every weld mark, as Mr Booth explains in his article (I refer you to the article which can be found on the ‘contact’ page of my website). The strength of the cabin side is certainly not compromised by not using framing. We’ve never had a cabin collapse yet!! There’s a bit more to it than frames/no frames. Regards, Graham
  5. Not resolute, but a recent tug build, outside rusting up prior to gritblasting If there are any specific shots you want, let me know.
  6. I see this is described on the Mel Davis website as a "Replica Woolwich/Northwich Tug".
  7. Not sure who owns Meteor, but I saw it a couple of weeks ago moored at Aldridge Marina on the Daw End Branch, the conversion doesn't look to clever. I was also quite interested in Atalanta until I was told that it's renowned for getting stuck in the locks on the Staffs and Worcester. I asked the owner if they had had any trouble, and they said it was fine as long as you use the chains. Edited to add: I was told the owners paid £48k for Atalanta not too long ago.
  8. Graham's my Dad. I'm not sure about that boat, you can tell the quality is there, and it's obviously a one off, but it tries a bit to hard.
  9. We have a 60ft tug, trad stern with a Kelvin J3 in the engine room. The tug deck makes working locks far easier and much safer. With it's 5'6" bows and 8' tug deck the balance is right. Some might say that there is a lot of wasted space with a tug deck, but we have a double bed which pulls out from under our tug deck, converting the Saloon into a bedroom at night. We also have entrances on both sides of the boat into the Galley, so access is made very easy.
  10. We're hoping to stick to the original plan of using Barnet once the whole Challenger thing sorts its self out.
  11. My Dad is a boatbuilder, so I have been around boats all my life, when I was younger I loved boating, but when I was your age I couldn't think of anything worse than boats and boating. Over the last couple of years I started taking interest in boats again, I'm now 22 and really into boats - I can't get enough. My advice would be to stop fighting it and be open minded, read books, look on the net. Canals and boats are really interesting. I used to think I was way too cool for the canals, don't care any more though - it's great!
  12. Yes, I have advertised on there before and each time my advert was rotated the date changed to the date rotated.
  13. I think it is just the case that the advert has been rotated and Sparky (the former owner) hasn't stated that it has been sold. I don't think the new owner has any plans to sell her just yet!
  14. I really like the eppings, makes cruising on a cold day especially pleasurable with the heat that they generate. I would recommend one, they are more of an all rounder than the squirrel.
  15. No, it's a Norton Canes, which has been decorated by Dave Moore.
  16. Epping? We have one in our back cabin...
  17. Joe Hollinshead is based in the Black Country, his fenders are superb. Unfortunately, I don't have his number to hand.
  18. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  19. Damn, wish I had bought a copy of this. Joe is a top bloke, makes great fenders too! He's becoming a bit of a celeb...I was watching him on Narrowboat earlier.
  20. An article from the Walsall Advertiser had this picture of the boat.
  21. Not if the shell is going to be grit-blasted. Leaving the bare shell in the water to rust up will allow the steel to settle after all the bending and shaping, then by grit-blasting the shell the paint has a nice mill scale free, keyed surface to adhere to.
