  5. Going down the mains route now for sure , NO solar panel as a) I dont like clutter on my cabin top and b) I really do not need one Decent alternator / battery setup and all will be good for what we need However I will put a 12v computer fan in to aid with air flow .. top idea thank you
  6. Got one already Victron imo is reliable enough , however I do have a spare sterling inverter that I can bung in a box onboard just in case .. your comments Nick echo what I feel
  7. Planning the fit on Tipton and got to thinking of fridges ... I have always previously gone down the shoreline 12 v route and been happy ..but technology and kit changes along with our needs Tip will be built for boating and is not intended to be a long term Liveaboard so I was thinking that a off the shelf household fridge running off the victron inverter whilst not as power frugal as a shoreline is a dammed sight cheaper please convince me why or why not to go down this road ...I am open to all suggestions thanks C
  8. Looking good as always Mark

  10. Having not been that way for a number of years where is the best and nearest overnight mooring for the northern end
  11. Give paul redshaw a shout at Braunston
  12. Slightly off topic but slightly relevant ... would a travel power kicking out 3kv be as efficient to feed a victron combi to support the 240 and charge the batts when boating than having a separate 12v alt for battery charging ???

  21. Brain has filed and cannot retrieve information what the formula steps to convert AC wattage to DC amperage .. I know I have to build a loss factor in for inverter etc. I can do the i = v/r etc but how to transpose 230v ac to 12 v dc brain dead fool I need wine
  22. For information I spoke to the chap again yesterday and he agrees that the best thing to do would be relocate the water heater to the new kitchen area I have assisted him with information only and given advice when I felt was necessary and Wish him good luck with the refit
  23. Thank you to all who posted . a different answer to what I thought, so if he is not a “Liveaboard” and declares himself as such then theoretically he can Like most said however it’s not a good idea on that I agree 100% , I for one wouldn’t want to I will chat to him about this and hopefully change his mind about relocating the water heater as part of the refit Chris
  24. HN this is the older non room sealed version it’s been in the boat for ages just that the room configuration is changing from kitchen to bedroom and he wants to put it in an open bottom cupboard
  25. Well thank you for your definitive and informed answer biscuit tin if I knew you better and felt you wouldn’t take offence and have a hissy fit i might have called you a prat I can of course read a set of Bss guidelines , but wanted to Chuck the question out here for real world opinions I thought it was more of a possible issue as it was possibly restricted for airflow and in a bedroom just my observation
