  1. Sounds too simple or may be just too difficult to try and work out on your own when you can ask on a forum and save thinking about a solution.
  2. A good set of jump leads straight to the starter and by-pass the isolation switch.
  3. Have you done any boating before? As you say your not young, maybe a narrow would be better if your by yourself, that way you could learn the ropes and gauge if a widebeam would suit, be what you need or just too much for you to enjoyably cruise. Also if you really think you need a widebeam, just sell it and trade up to a widebeam. If you buy a widebeam first and it’s not for you due to the size and navigation problems or just realise you don’t need the space or the lifestyle is not for you. You could waste a lot of money. Also moorings are easier to find for a narrow, should you find CCing isn’t for you, you could find a permanent mooring that suits your lifestyle in a rural or city location with the odd week/month out here and there and have the peace of mind of a home base to return to.
  4. How old is the boat? Are they requesting the survey before they insure because of the age of the boat and were you previously insured with GJW?
  5. Or Ch5 +1 at 00:05-01:05 Starts and finishes Thursday for the Night Owls?
  6. Not worth anywhere near £125K dreamers. I doubt it was £125K when new 5 years ago.
  7. I’m sure with a £100K budget he’ll be able to buy any of the used/nearly new on Apolloduck even the ones with Craftsmanship interiors. Just needs to look for the boat that he likes first and not worry so much about who made it .
  8. Where are you in the country? If North or your willing to travel, give this guy a look, builds quality boats and prices are to suit your budget with the shell of your choice. https://www.sellisboatfitters.co.uk/gallery/
  9. Your going to waste a lot of money if you don’t do jobs like this yourself. Not a hard job, sounds like you don’t want to get your hands dirty? This is basic and if your not prepared to do jobs like this then maybe having a boat is not for you. Or you should of bought a brand new one with a freshly painted engine bay and no dirt.
  10. You won’t go far wrong with Ed from here: https://fourcountiesmarineservices.com/ have known a few friends use him and all very happy with his work and price. He could fit everything on your list and sort you electrical system out for your future requirements
  11. Could be that the engine has been overheating/pushed hard on a regular basis, causing the head to get very hot which results in the paint looking like this. I have seen this a lot however on Isuzu engines in Narrowboats.
  12. I’m honesty not Martin. Your the one that seams to be following my Posts/Threads.
  13. Not really bothered Martin, your probably on loads of Forums under different names, living your dream. MJG, Doghouse, The Happy Nomad and probably many more. Disrupting and adding little.
  14. another pointless post by MJG? Your known for your remarks, both on here and “Thunderboat” did I here you were a administrator on there before you were rumbled MJG? Why change your forum name?
  15. Why are you following my posts Martin? Far more people then myself have posted more replies on here. Why must I post in other Threads? I may not have anything informative or constructive to input. I’m not like you posting in every Post often just repeating what has previously been said or nothing relevant to the Post or a snide comment to gourd another member. Much like you did on the “Thunderboat” Forum under your usual MJG forum name.
  16. Obviously your very protective of foxes, so much so that you seam to be getting quite upset and offended about it, please remember it’s not personal. This is only a forum, real life is different. Take care, keep safe?
  17. There’s millions of people not working now because of Covid-19. I would not say their job(vlogging) is essential, Are you saying it is? Or it’s how they make a living? Tell that to the thousands that have lost their jobs because it’s non essential but how they made a living.
  18. You can be as offended as much as you like. Obviously you put these guys on some sort of Canal Vloggers pedestal and follow their every word as Gospel, remember they produce and EDIT their Vlogs, so only put out what suits them and puts them in a positive light, just like they also remove any negative comments that they don’t want to see. According to their last Instagram taken at Iccles Pike they must be around Bugsworth Basin area, then again it could of been taken before lockdown?
  19. Was it? But was it filmed in a Tier 4 area? I take it you support their actions? You can edit anything on a Vlog, let’s see if they remain in a local area hold up or still travel.
  20. E I take it you fully support them in their actions?
  21. But they aren’t adhering to advice from CaRT in regards to essential travel: Updated 5 January 2021 General advice for boaters What is essential boat travel? If you are a live-aboard boater or are currently occupying your boat, then essential movement could be: to access water or waste facilities to access essential food and supplies to access hospital, GP, and other medical appointments, or visits where you have had an accident or are concerned about your health for emergency mechanical service for your boat for emergency vet treatment for your pet for caring responsibilities Then you get people on here defending them like yourself, while the daily infection rate is the highest it’s been and the daily death rate is also rising.
  22. I think Disdain is going a bit over the top Martin, FYA I know a few high profile Vloggers who I talk to regular. The Vloggers above are trying too hard to be Vloggers and like you know little about living on the canals.
  23. If you wish to see the New Breed of middle class boaters/Vloggers check these New Vloggers out. These two come across as desperate to be on the Social Media Platform. Even have a weekly Pod Cast to tell the world of their experience of living in a Marina for a month, a shop for their merchandise (even though they have never been out yet or through a lock) and the obligatory Donations page (to pay for the running costs of their new car and residential Marina mooring) https://www.lovelifetriumph.co.uk/ Never seen anyone who has just bought a boat wanting it so much (Not the boating life but Social Media acceptance) Total Pantomime performances and tragic that a couple of their age are trying so hard to be accepted by the other Media boaters. They must dream of being like “Foxesafloat” A sad reflection of what seams important to new boaters no matter what age.?
