  1. I don't think discussing CRTs directors salaries is any more off topic that the multitude of posts listing pairs :-) It seemed to go on for pages and perhaps another thread might have been a more appropriate place for it. This thread IS very important and I can understand that in periods of no news folks introduce a bit of light heartedness but if CRT are following the thread, they probably gave up at that point. Just my thoughts. haggis
  2. My dogs tags have number of house and street name, post code, home phone number and mobile number. Reckon that along with microchips should help whether we are at home or off boating haggis
  3. Is Simon Salem not sally Ash's boss? Which makes him head of boating, or something like that. haggis
  4. yes, but it will be the marina who has to make up any shortfall in the NAA, not the boaters. That, of course should have been factored into the business plan. haggis
  5. The reason for publishing PLs diatribe on NBW is probably because the editor and most of the folk who write for NBW are very much anti BW/CRT and they appear not to be too concerned about the truth or accuracy of what appears on their site. Haggis
  6. I can just see the mass exodus from marinas on 28th Feb, and the mass return on 2nd March :-) I think counting the number of boats in marinas has already been considered and found to be unworkable (or that might have been the conclusion on this thread). Haggis
  7. I agree that the sentiments are all what we have been hearing form PL but the language style is a bit different. Maybe he is employing a ghost writer :-) haggis
  8. PL (well, it says he wrote it but it doesn't really sound like him) has put a long message on the dark side at http://www.narrowboatworld.com/index.php/news-flash/6669-pillings-marina-debacle The figures just don't seem to add up somehow.. haggis

  11. I wonder if the boaters will still enjoy their boating when they are boating round a lake? haggis

  13. We saw then at Frankton junction on the Llangollen last year when they were filming and they used a hire boat. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the electrics on the boat and they had to be put up in a hotel overnight. back filming early next morning though. haggis

  18. While I applaud companies coming up with new ideas (although I think this is not one of the better ones) I personally would be wary of having dealings with this company. Last year, I did them a favour which resulted in a couple of sales (they told me) and they made me a very good offer to make us a cratch cover. I jumped at the chance, supplied measurements etc and then it all went quiet. Phone calls and emails ignored. OK if they had changed their minds, they could have told me but it was just a silence. We were needing a new canopy made and we stopped looking anywhere else when we were made the offer. Had they told us of their change of mind, we could at least have gone elsewhere. We still need a new cratch cover! haggis

  22. Wullie, are you looking for a boat in Scotland of England? if it is Scotland, there are quite a few NBs on the market just now and I know of another one coming up soon. haggis
  23. I have just paid a visit to the dark side and can't believe my eyes! The editor, who, with most of his side kicks, has never missed an opportunity to have a go at BW and now CRT, has published an article saying he has been wrong. I wonder if all the side kicks will now follow suit or will we see pink things flying around? haggis
  24. When we replaced the cooker on Copperkins (a shared boat) a few years ago, we asked the boatyard we were at at the time to fit it for us and although it met all our requirements (identical to BSPs) it had 240v igniting. The yard removed the 12v lighting "bit" from the old cooker and used that for the new cooker so I don't think it is too big a job (especially if you have the old cooker to take the bits from). Unfortunately, I am not on the boat so can't remember what make etc the cooker is (it is grey) but we got it from Midland Chandlers and if they don't have one suitable it suggests that it is no longer made. The yard had never swapped igniters on cookers before but we agreed that they would try it and if it didn't work, we would use a manual igniter. It worked! So, perhaps speak to a boatyard about swapping the igniters over. haggis.
