  5. hello I too are having problems with my Eber we had it serviced at the beginning of the year and then we started with the problems first we had to have a new Motor as ours was cutting out we ave replaced all leisure and starter batteries fixed the diesel leek to the unit by replacing the coupling with a flexible one But we still get a loud popping noise towards the end of the 60 min cycle. the engineer has put his diagnostic on to the unit but has not found any faults. We did have the furthest Radiator turn off but have opened it up so all Radiators are fully opened and bleed. This did help in that the noise did not start until much later in the cycle. we have noticed that if we put the heating on early on a cold frosty morning it will complete a full cycle with no noise (popping) but if we put it back on within a couple of hours the noise (popping) occurs much earlier in the cycle I too am at a loss Roger
  6. I use the BT when reverse berthing in our marina but no good last weekend as it could not break the ice trying to push the bow out to get it straight to reverse into my berth PS the only reason I was out in the ice was I needed a pump out and diesel for winter lay up otherwise it would of stayed put in its berth
  7. Thanks James for the suggestion but it has just been serviced and then after a short time the heater would not start so a new motor was fitted and it was after this that we started to get the popping noise towards the end of the 60 min cycle
  8. my Eberspacher is making a popping noise towards the end of its cycle it starts with just an intermittent pop but gets quicker and ends up sounding like a machine gun any ideas as to whats causing this thanks

  10. Diamond Resorts is a holiday club where you have points to use against your chosen holiday You are made to think that you are above all others and your experience with them is a privilege that others are not entitled too Therefore you can do what you like. Many times I have come across Diamond Resorts boats that have no respect for other canal users mooring out side Pubs blocking entrances to Locks making navigation difficult.

  12. Hi All Just a further piece of information when we left the boat this time we Isolated the batteries and turned everything off and made a note of the voltage so when we return in two weeks we will see if the batteries have dropped with no load thanks for your comments Roger
  13. Hello All Back from the weekend on Capriola when I was able to check the batteries The Boat has been connected to the land line for two weeks and all seamed fine on Friday night and connected the TV aerial up and settled in for the night Saturday was the day to check the batteries so with the land line connected the invertor was reading 13.5V. Multimeter reading across 1 to 6 Batteries was 13.75V Multimeter reading across Starter Battery was 13.63 I then disconnected each battery in turn and recorded the Voltage as follows Battery 1 13.62V Battery 2 13.63V Battery 3 13.63V Battery 4 13.63V Battery 5 13.62V Battery 6 13.62V I reconnected the batteries and waited 2 hours and took another reading Batteries 1-6 reading was 12.84V with the batteries connected up and no land line hooked up we continued to carry out our daily life the 12v Radio was used for about 5 hours 12V fridge, 240V digital clock 240V MiFi and 240V phone charger I cleaned and tested the bilge pump three times in a bucket Used the macerator pump three times used the water pump for the kettle and washing and cooking watched 240V TV for 4 hours had 6 LED lights on for about 5 hours and the battery reading was 12.7 when we went to bed At 4 in the morning we were woken with the beeping of the invertor showing a fault Have the batteries had it or am I expecting too much from the batteries Any advice gratefully received Roger
  14. Thanks guys for your advice and help it will have to wait until I go back to the boat in a couple of weeks to check all the advice given and hopefully I will be able to report back some positive findings for any one else in similar quandary Roger
  15. Thankyou for your suggestions The fridge is a 12V one I have 6 leisure batteries I'll check the batteries, make and model and level of fluid when next over to the boat in two weeks time also try and put a meter across terminals thanks again Roger
  16. Hello Fellow Boaters I have now owned our boat for two years and use it most weekends with small cruises of up to 2-3 hours on the Saturday and Sunday but three weeks ago we moved north to our new marina and cruised for up 10 hours on the Saturday and 6 hours on the Sunday The boat is connected to a land line in the week and keep the batteries up at about 13.8V on the meter but this weekend we went for a small cruise of 2 hrs and when switching the engine off I notice the volt meter drop from the 13,8V to 12.7V very quickly ( within 15 Mins of turning the engine off) We had three LED lights on and the refrigerator plus the wi fi on 240V and a digital alarm clock on 240V We sat down an watched the TV (240V) in the evening for about 4 Hours and the voltage had dropped to 12.6V nothing for us to worry about I thought. But in the night when having to get up the voltage had dropped to 10.3V and in the morning the inverter had switched off Is this the time to change the batteries?
  17. Our vetus toilet system packed up this weekend The circuit trip switch kept tripping out I have stripped it right down and the motor looks like its knackered Any idea were I can get spares from The model is WCS 12VDC With Let no 273L 12v 270w I have searched online but keep coming up with the vetus home page and they only have the newer model Any help would be appreciated as I do not wish to replace the whole unit Roger
  18. I was wondering of using some "Celotex" as sound proofing in the engine bay as I have been offered a load my worry is is it suitable on a cruiser stem NB if I stick to the the outside metal re fire hazard Roger
  19. Hire companies need to give more tuition to hirers in boat handling, speed on the canals and how to navigate safely through locks or hirers need to prove competence in handling Its lucky no one was hurt or life lost
  20. Came down The Stoke Bruerne flight of locks last Saturday and the key side was under water at the bottom lock and the water rushing out of the river Tove making the passage way south very interesting. Lucky I knew the problems and kept the NB right over to the side closest to the river so that when I came level with the outfall of the river into the canal I was not pushed into the weir. The water falling over the weir was over a foot high Roger
  21. Hello MtB Just think of all that Carbon you saved from NOT having a new engine manufactured Roger
  22. Hi Guys very interesting thread I replaced a couple of the G4 bulb type for LEDS from bedazzeled and was very pleased with the light emitted. But then looking on ebay I saw some from a guy in Glasgow selling LED's in batches of 10 which I subsequently purchased. On trying to fit them at first I thought I had made a mistake as I could not get them to work, and as it was late one evening and fitting the sixth LED I inadvertently fitted it upside down with the LED's pointing upwards only to find it worked. I then tried a few of the others that way round and found they worked I then went about taking the downlighter out and changing the polarity of the wiring which solved the problem. I then went about fitting the LEDs to the remaining downlighter's only to find that some worked and some I had to remove the downlighter to change the polarity of the wiring to make them work. They all seem to work OK now but I must admit I did not think the LEDs would be dependent on polarity Roger
  23. Hi Rosiep we brought our boat last year and finished the sale in November and like yourself had to to get the boat down from Cheshire with stoppages and the winter Ice we were keen to have the boat in our marina as soon as possible we used Mattys40 on the forum and found him great at keeping us up to date on his progress and he also fixed a couple of items on the NB for us on his way down I also met up with him on the last day to travel the last bit and help with the locks which was useful for me, and Matt gave me some extra tips on how to cruise through the bridges in winter etc. Roger
  24. well it looks like i was a mug at the show I also brought the brush and hose to put into the bucket (although we did wash the goat OK with it) Roger
