  1. Hi All Just about to set off on our first adventure on our new n/b from Ashby Canal. Is it best done clockwise or anti-clockwise. Any issues we should know about. And are the horror stories, concerning the Birmingham Canals just that........ stories. Thanks in advance all info greatly appreciated. Brum
  2. Its the same knob to control both. If it helps..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121238788274?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 The company that make Vanette products went bust 4 years ago so spares are like hens teeth, so I am told.
  3. The regulator controls the oven and the grill on vanettes. And yes I ended up buying a new cooker.
  4. I have just had the exact same problem, its the regulator thats gone ,quoted £125.00 plus delivery for replacement.
  5. Ok thanks for all the info on Flotex, but could i ask we get back on subject Ie. But should I lay a layer of heavy duty polythene down first, I was told to use news paper but would that not retain moisture/ damp. Or is it best with hessian backed carpet to lay it direct.
  6. Hi Thanks for the replies. The carpet I am removing has no markings etc, but its a bit like thin felt. I am replacing it with a hard wearing hessen backed industrial carpet.
  7. I have decided to replace the worn/ faded carpets on my newly aquired n/b. When I started taking the old one up I found there had been no underlay used, it was laid directly onto the wooden floor. As this was a professional fit out, i was wondering if this was for a specific reason or just an oversight or cost cutting reasons. I have purchased some new special thermal underlay ready to re-carpet.But should I lay a layer of heavy duty polythene down first, I was told to use news paper but would that not retain moisture/ damp. Please can anyone advise or share their experiences.................. Many Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.
  8. Hi All Totally confused now as I have just contacted National Coal who and I quote state.................. 'EXCEL - a clean burning, approved smokeless fuel ideal for open fires and also multi-fuel stoves.
  9. That I am fortunate enough to have realized my dreams of owning my own n/b. And just the thought of her makes me very cheerful.
  10. Thank you to all who have contributed and all the help and advice. Regards Brum
  11. That would be very helpful, many thanks. Brum
  12. Since we purchased 'SUNNY BRID' in October we have had 11 different people, most of whom were boaters, tell us we have spelt BIRD wrong and should sack the sign writer. We were also told by the brokerage that within hours of going on the net they received several phone calls saying did you know you spelt 'BIRD' wrong. We now tell them all very politely that the previous owner lived in Bridlington hence 'SUNNY BRID' and did not have the space on the side for the whole name 'SUNNY BRIDLINGTON'. So if you see us on your travels ...............................WE KNOW, BIRD IS SPELT WRONG.......................LOL Any other funny boat name stories. Regards Brum
  13. Hello, Welcome, enjoy and chill out.
  14. Hi Can anyone suggest or recommend the best coal fuel to use on my Morso Squirrel please. This is the first time I have had one fitted on a n/b so would appreciate any advice. Regards Brum
  15. Hi Yes the boat is over 5 years old and I do have all the info and documentation required, its just contained in so many different documents I wish to organise it into a single document format. And was wondering if there is a standard format for such a document. Regards and Respectfully Brum
