  1. Then I think the issue of continuous mooring needs to be addressed properly through enforcement. I wouldn’t have thought a license increase would stop them over staying. Might even make them dig their heels in more and stay longer. But like you say though it’ll cost money to enforce and it’s got to come from somewhere I am wondering thoough whether the increase in fees and costs in general will see more boats giving up marina moorings and coming out on the cut. If that happens then I reckon there’ll be more CMers and dumpers.
  2. It is divisive. I think Bee summed it up well on another post about ‘splitting hairs’ and dividing boaters. it’s one thing thinking any opinions on this questionnaire will matter much but to misunderstand and think it’s a vote is a bit strong
  3. Ok What you on about? It’s not a vote. Its very far from a vote. What you’ve said is very misleading.
  4. They are very good👍 but are they up to date? I see they got the old logo on them
  5. So what’s he ranting about? He’s off in his own world again. Pointless me saying owt to him, he’s got me on ignore again
  6. It’s not a vote is it? That’s the second person to refer to the questionnaire as a vote
  7. I predict a rise above inflation on ALL license fees for next 10 years. Fat boats will be hit with an additional increase in license fee. And…. I reckon CCers (🙄) will continue with same deal as home moorers and not be charged extra for using the canal. Prompt payment discount will end. The other discounts will most likely remain None based on my wishful thinking or my desire but what the crystal ball tells me. It tells me CRT will take the easiest option.
  8. I did a few hours and a few locks today, a great way to forget all this rubbish. Lots of ducks to talk to And I saw a very pretty Cherry tree coming out in blossom, early I thought for cherry blossom? Rattled a few locks, a perfect day. Well… I’m not being charged any extra for using it yet, so may as well get on with it while I can. And I’m moored up for ‘free’ (🤣)…
  9. I have a little more faith in people. for instance, I have no interest in widebeams and am generally not a fan unless they are historic barges, but I’m still not convinced they should cost more to license, and I said so in one of them boxes where we were allowed to air our view
  10. can it wait til after the Cezanne Exhibition? I’ve a visit planned
  11. That thought crossed my mind too, so I did add my thoughts in the areas allowed but coherent and sensible? hell yea! 👍
  12. It’s very definitely not a vote LadyG 🙂
  13. That’d be a good idea, I somehow missed the video and couldn’t return to it. I assumed the written blurb which follows the video amounts to the same?
  14. I believe they will send one, the original blurb said they would unless I’m getting this survey mixed with another yes it is personalised because they said something like “we see you’re a continuous cruiser….”
  15. I absolutely, fully agree with the sentiment of that. But it is a survey aimed at a license holder. those who do want to answer the survey can request CRT for one. Has it turned up yet ? Got mine this evening.
  16. He was a nice bloke. I’ve passed him a number of times and he was always cheery. On the few occasions I spoke with him he always had time to natter away. I don’t suppose he would have remembered me but I’ll remember him. Yes, very sad.
  17. Yes, I still disagree although it won’t cost me any more money and it’d be no skin off my nose so to speak if the wealthy pay more on their license. As I’ve said before if the wealthy are feeling charitable they can donate directly to CRT coffers.
  18. I met and had a chat with him at Great Haywood last week. Seemed a decent bloke. 👍
  19. yes I think CRT accepts what you give them mine’s like yours an old hull (well half an old hull) with a 1980’s cabin, so old in both respects but which to go by? I guess the hull.
  20. Thought you’d gone back on the Leeds Liverpool?
  21. It’s too complex, and it’s been said before it’d cost more to implement some of these ideas than would be got in return.
  22. Yes, I don’t see why the wealthy should pay more to use the canals and I’ve said that before. Firstly why should they pay more for the same service as you say. Perhaps they’re usually paying more to CRT anyway by having a longer/bigger boat and maybe they’re paying a small fortune too with good moorings. But also it’d bring a sense of entitlement if they did pay more. The wealthy would not pay extra through a sense of altruism, they’d want something extra in return for it. And no I’ve never given much of a toss for money. Which is why I gave up a career and sold the house before moving on to a boat to travel about.
