  1. Fair enough. But the first thing I do if someone is in my way, I ask them to move. That's not an unreasonable thing to do. And most people respond positively. If they're not in my way, then it's probably no business of mine. Glenn
  2. Can't most issues like this be sorted on the towpath? I'd guess, and hope, most are. It's too easy to damn someone on a forum and from the comfort of home. (But then we wouldn't have the entertainment of this thread) Where has the term 'enforcement officer' come from? Is it really a job title used by CRT? Or a term adopted by others. Sounds very American. Glenn
  3. Out of interest, will you go back to the same marina? Will they keep a place for you? And will they charge? Glenn
  4. Coal 2x25kg lasts 8 days. £17.50 Gas 1x6kg lasts 2 months, if lucky, £20 I leave the stove going 24/7, have done since October. I use gas for cooking and for instant hot water. I also keep one or two kettles on the stove to save on gas, for heating water. Glenn
  5. Oh, go on go on go on! Speak Ask 'em if it were a dodgy curry giving 'em the squitts. Would love to know the excuse. This thread needs an ending. Happy or otherwise.
  6. If ive spent time mooring up, then it's not much additional effort to close the gates that are open. I don't get mardy I get on with it. But what a relief when you can enter straight into the lock because the gates are open in your favour. I shut the gates of the locks that appear to leak badly (generally most). But if not, then I'm off. I don't call this bloody mindlessness. Try relaxing a little and don't get so uptight. Glenn
  7. No worries. We'll find the boozers.. Our neck of the woods don't forget. I dare say ill pass you in next week or so. Cheers Glenn Lovely I can sleep easy now. I will check in later though! Glenn
  8. He is complaining And watching. Every day. Sometimes twice. Hope he reports in tomorrow.
  9. or the mud thickens, Rules or Guidelines?
  10. There's loads of pubs up there! I'll race you. I'm fed up with the over priced wadsworth beer down here. Glenn
  11. I'm not suggesting you become an enforcer. But a friendly chat costs nothing. Glenn

  14. Did you see this? You could have dropped the paddles and shut the gates.
  15. If you saw the boat and know who it is , then tell them yourself.
  16. Probably the best thread on Blog ever. Start at from page 1 omitting my crap from page 10 onwards. It is 'the' best thread ever. A very entertaining read. Thanks for that. Made me laugh. ....your posts were funny too Cheers Glenn I feel I ought to add: I find blogs dull and rarely read one. I sympathise with the OP.
  17. Or , haul it out the way. There appears to be enough space in front and behind
  18. I spoke with a guy having a door window replaced. He was broken into last night at Semington. Nothing was stolen. His food cupboards had been gone through but nothing taken. Fits the discription of the burglaries described on the k&a website, that of a homeless person.
  19. Thanks, that's made it clear. I see £20 is the minimum charged, increasing to £120 maximum. I'm pleased its not topping up the EA's coffers.
  20. Just what I thought! Cheers Glenn Really, why are they victims? Why 20 quid? Glenn
  21. In addition all the above defendants were ordered to pay £115 costs and a victim surcharge of £20 . Whats a victim surcharge? and hows it apply in this sort of case? Thanks

  23. I have portholes. I found in the summer there was no problem. In the back cabin, which I'm using as a studio, there is one porthole (small), a pigeon box and a side hatch. Through the winter I've experimented with LED lights which are proving good. An advantage of portholes over large windows, which you might want, it's easier to hang delicate artwork out of direct sunlight. I've some prints and drawings which would spoil in sunlight. Personally I like portholes for privacy and security. And, for fun, you get some cool looking reflections on the ceiling and walls, even better with the odd mirror specially placed. All the best with the artwork.
