  1. You might even think about a camera that also is a video camera, like the Panasonics with HD. They take single shots as well so you could have both worlds for £350.
  2. Don't know but unless I get my Uni loans, I shall have to get one without a roof!!
  3. All of the skin cooled engines should have a thermostat to control the temperature. So I expect the engine to reach its running temp and the thermostat to open and close to control the water temperature until, fully open. It doesn't get hotter than that.

  6. If anyone has real bore glazing nowadays, I would really like to know.
  7. A piston engine crankcase should not show positive pressure all of the time. It is better to show no pressure. Any positive pressure will cause blow-by of the piston rings and oil leaks from the crankshaft end seals, positive breathing from vents to dieseling. If you think that you have glazed bores, fit new piston rings.
  8. Where on the base plate was the 3mm of pitting? It is usually the sides that pit to that depth.
  9. Simple use a anti-noise kit. It just generates a sound in negative of the main sound source to cancel it out. Failing that, the low frequency sounds of the engine turning have to be absorbed by layers of thick rubber.
  10. I can understand what you are trying to achieve but you cannot use cables. It has to be an extended crank from the snib. You need to change rotary motion into lateral motion on both sides of the doors. So the throw is important for security. You will end up with quite a large mechanism to do the job. You could do the same thing with two 12v solenoid switches pushing a cam.

  12. I forgot to add to my earlier bit that you will also need to know what the polarisation is ie vertical, horizontal, circular or crossed. If you don't know what it is when you are buying or making antennas, you could find that it produces virtually no signal at all.
  13. The dongle is tuned to the selected band that it advertises. If you know what the transmission and receive frequencies are you can get a proper antenna for your boat. You can also make your own vertical antenna using twin wire flex.
  14. I forgot that NASA had an F16 re-winged and a ballistic parachute fitted. The German passenger aircraft didn't have a parachute or much control area either.
  15. It's a German idea to reduce drag. They actually produced and aircraft and flew it with the wings exactly the same as TB2

  18. Bones, make a list of the changes you need to do and a service while the engine is out.
  19. Poor starting can also mean low compression.

  21. I really enjoyed the vid and the music. Well put together.
  22. I did some white water rafting on the Oxford.
  23. I always drill a pilot hole to see if water comes through.
