  1. At least 12 left at banbury rubbish point since the end of the season
  2. January 2013 after 40 years of working and paying stamp and PAYE I found myself claiming benefit for the 1st time, utterly soul destroying, my advisor at the job centre was patronising judgemental and bloody useless! after 6 weeks I had a stupid and horrible accident on the boat that led to a huge skin graft on my left thigh and buttock with the donor site being my right thigh, the result was neither leg worked and abysmal agony for 12 weeks, I struggled to get on the boat and once on I struggled to get off, long story short this March I went back to the job centre having had no work or income since christmas, the same woman interviewed me and asked me why in a superior tone and I gave her it straight, sooner eat every 3rd day, go cold, no coal gas or diesel because of HER attitude the year before but hey you just cannot work without some sort of sustenance, fortunately my new advisor was a real bloody star and actually helped and advised, now been working 7 weeks, 6 of those at 50+ hours but got food in my cupboard, gas, diesel and bloody hope in my life again so f**k all you argumentative buggers on here, life can be really hard sometimes and them feeling it do NOT need you to knock em down, be petty tories or just plain tw@ts to make a plea for help seem like begging from the great unwashed rant over, life can be hard, this can be a great site but it can also drain the hope and life out of you

  10. Two weeks ago was wakened by a load of noise(!!!) outside, turned over back to sleep, last sunday noticed a 10' x 1' board on my roof with metal bands each end, shabby looking paint mostly in red, thought sod it wire brushed it vigourously, painted black, now on my roof looking pretty ok would'nt of bought one but not one to turn down a freebie (elbow grease and a little bit of one coat johnsons satin, brush already in use doing gunwales) would of been rude to dump it surely

  19. hi tuscan, its asperger's autism and yes it interests many with the condition as do maps, train/plane/narrowboat spotting, my eldest grandson (18) loves all of them as well as heavy metal music, the skies, clouds, mathematical equations and many more boring things to me! but also poetry, books of all genre, for many its a coping mechanism so good luck to them all
  20. I'm at Tooleys (again or is that still!) had the service and blacking done only to find head gasket gone, must have been running without water quite a while but no damage done, not going anywhere soon, signs have gone up about being off the moorings by am friday but only way I'm moving is with a tow I'm the blue boat with a bag of blue coal on the roof
  21. I've had my nb for just over a month and I used the ladder for the first week and then found using my centre line to walk her into and out of the locks I felt much more in control, admittedly only on the oxford so far, I take my time and have accepted help a couple of times (thanks if anyone on here helped), take your time and yes I also go gongoozling to watch for tips on what to do and what not to do when moored up knackered and ready for a brew or two
