  1. Yello, Are you sure they didn't reply : "Good day. After asking the help of our related product department by contacting the supplier, sorry for any misunderstanding may cause. They confirm that item is as described below. Please kindly note that : The red wire is the thin one. The yellow wire is the thick one. 30 amps is roughly what the Rolling Stones take with them on a stadium tour. They also said they had 24 cases of this Chinese crap to shift .... and if I wanted to see my Christmas pay packet, I'd better start selling them pronto ! Hope the above information would be a little helpful for you. Thanks a lot. Have a nice day. Sincerely, " Malc.
  2. Yello, Water is going down at last .... and finally the first weir gate has been closed here at Bell Weir, Runnymede. Be careful though Thames dwellers .... you know the water is VERY fast and VERY cold. Stay safe my friends ..... Malc.
  3. Yello, We have a number of friends living aboard on Ash Island ... fortunately the elderly lady Joyce was not aboard when her boat caught fire. The boat that was breasted up to hers consequently sank from it's proximity to the fire. Smoke alarms DO save lives as our BSSO man says .... many people on the Island escaped and learned a lesson. Many boats on Ash Island are three abreast .... and bow to stern. Another reason why I prefer to moor single side on to the bank. Stay safe ..... Malc.

  5. Yello, From Bell Weir at Runnymede, the situation appears just as the EA say .... probably dropped and inch after being static for the last 12 hours. Hopefully we are over the peak for now ... but the water is very fast ... so take good care around your boat. Malc.

  7. Yello, Coincedently Blackrose .... I was talking to Richard Llewelyn about the mooring at the end of the office block opposite you the other day. There's a flat top craft and a small piece of tupperware there at the moment ....... I may still take it at the start of the New Year. Cheers Malc.
  8. Yello, Hey Blackrosedude ..... I feel your pain ..... but if you over engineer stuff from the start, you can snigger at the people who can't be arsed to do the job properly .. once ! Stay safe buddy .... Malc. BTW ... Know what you mean about the water flow noise, I have my bedroom in the bow ... it's a bit like sleeping in a jacuzzi !
  9. Yello, Well it's still creeping upwards here at Runnymede ! Old Windsor - Staines. Have had to move much stuff, re-tie again, raise the bridge another couple of scaffold board packers ! ..... Stay safe Thames dwellers .... Malc.
  10. Yello, My superstar neighbour has loaned me two of his 5 metre roof timbers from his house build. Now I'm no longer marooned ! Malc.
  11. Yello, Well I'm moored in the weir stream at Bell Weir, Runnymede ..... with 9 out of 9 gates wide open ..... my pontoon is completely submerged and even the far end of my scaffold boards temporary gang plank is submerged ! Malc.
  12. Yello, Navigations such as the Wey and Godalming are wholly owned by The National Trust for all time .... so a united river management seems highly improbable. Malc.
  13. Yello, I heard a muttering yesterday that EA were going to give up the lock and river maintenance of the non tidal Thames to CaRT ..... any news on the grapevine ? Cheers Malc.
  14. Yello, You could try using a CAT6 cable run and drop leads ? Cheers Malc.
  15. Yello, Thanks guys ..... I gave the flue a sweep and 'plumped' up the rope a little and now all is well again. Cheers Malc.

  18. Yello, My Becton 7 stove is 4/5 years old and gets used in the winter only .... but yesterday I saw smoke coming up through the door top and into the cabin ! On inspection the rope seal looks grubby but perfectly intact and not damaged in any way that I can see. The door close on the stove also looks perfect .... I will re-sweep the flue in case there's any excess deposits, but apart from that is there any maintenance I could do to the rope seal to cure the leak please ? Cheers Malc. I have now given the rope a little 'massage' to fluff it back up a bit. It did seem a tad flat in some places.

  20. Yello, Even though I'd seen it before, for me the programme still highlighted the enormous efforts that many now forgotten people put in to restore our waterways to there current state. Enjoy ! Malc.
  21. Yello, Last time I was up that way it did seem like the road development on the Bedford side of the M1 was being constructed with the canal link in mind. That was a few years back though. I for one think it's a great idea .... Malc.
  22. Yello, Brighton and Nuneaton have just delivered to me at Runnymede on Thames .... they're heading downstream to Shepperton now. Bloody nice chaps as well ! Thanks to The Narrow Boat Trust. Malc.
  23. Yello, Just move the vowels around a bit and you should come up with 'violate'.... oh and a spare 'l'. "I'll have a 'P' please" Malc.
  24. Yello, The Thames Lockies are on the whole excellent fellows and very accommodating. Quite a few volenteers though, which I can't help but think may pressure their job security. Many thanks for the email Keith .. Malc.
  25. Yello, Do we know roughly where Nuneaton and Brighton are at the moment please ? .... Are they going down the K&A before coming back into Surrey / Middx ? Cheers Malc.
