  1. I have always wondered why there isn't a registration document with your boat. A lot of money with no document saying your the owner .
  2. They brought bans in a few years back but cancelled them loch lomond is a bit different although could apply to mooring people where abusing the place evening go off find a nice lay by away from the touristy areas and park for the night take the pee and you lose it Kev
  3. Back on topic I have always lived by keep your head down do not rock the boat (no pun intended ) and its surprising what you can get away with, try to play by the rules, I just wonder with everything that's cracking off at the moment where are they pushing CRT to. I like the fact no defined distance but always presumed it meant traveling the system so people who genuinely cruised did not have to pay for a mooring they did not use. So surely in the end we will finish up with rules that I am sure some boaters do not want, its fine finding loopholes old laws or whatever but in the end they will disappear right or wrong at some point the law makers will allow CRT to be able to make money, I hope I am wrong, but I have mentioned before it didn't take long once the Government has a mindset to make squatting illegal. Kev
  4. Always been a Devon and Cornwall fan but I hate to say they are now second choice such stunning scenery and despite people saying the road are tricky I didn't have a problem and the canals lovely and some very big boats use them, downside is midges cant remember time to avoid but they are supposed to be a nuisance. Thats my bit for the Scottish Tourism board done. Kev
  5. Scotland now virtually you can stop any lay by so long as you do not cause an obstruction had a fantastic 2 weeks up there last year Kev
  6. Warning about this boat please do not buy it . . . . . . . .until I have been to bank and talked the better half round
  7. My boat went from nice paint job below gunwales to blacked as soon as I realised how easy it is to damage paint work now quick touch up with blacking good as new. As someone whos work involves loads risk assessments and method statements .I always think how lucky we are to still be able to work locks ourselves and how with the blame culture heavens forbid it might be stopped
  8. Thank you always interested re insurance as to cover etc for my own boat Kev
  9. Just curious what are your massive uninsured losses
  10. Mine is first class runs perfect h the first one fitted to the boat 15 years ago replaced 2 years ago with a new one . Run them hard 2 hours minimum they do need good voltage that's why I said engine running to see if it is voltage . Could be Carboned up . Good instructions on you tube for stripping them down and cleaning quite simple really .
  11. Try it with the engine running
  12. Sorry best I can describe is up from the cafe boat Waterbus side past the toilets. cavalcade rings a bell
  13. Just to ease me nosy side, we walked down Little Venice yesterday, and on every other mooring ring there was a notice from CRT couldn't read it as I had my Grandson on my shoulders and didn't want to tip him in the canal does any one know what they are.
  14. Good point craftycarper but........ If The Trust didn't have to maintain locks in fact everything that has to be spent keeping the waterways navigable, would the lack of license/ mooring money be as same as the spending needed to keep the waterways navigable, obviously some money would be needed for maintenance to keep fishermen and towpath users happy.
  15. Come on I am sure you can do better than picking up grammar, forgot it was a school playground, not to self must try harder, believe it or not was a serious question as I read all the legal experts on here and what people should do or not do, wondered if these same people had a solution that c&rt could use. Oh and I thought it was still Canal and river trust. I will go and stand in the corner.
  16. Been reading posts on the forum regarding moving section 8s etc, I personalty at the moment live in a marina boo hiss well according to some. What do you think C&RT should do about narrow boats who according to them do not move enough, bearing in mind if say C&RT decide not to do anything whatsoever, if you want to leave your boat on the canal or you want to live on a canal its ok, bearing in mind talking to a lot of folk its only the fear of getting section 8 that makes them take a mooring if they could moor on the canal they would. I feel the real reason C&RT do not want to set a distance is at the moment they can come down on heavily populated areas where there is a problem and move boats, whereas less populated areas C&RT can leave alone until there is a problem a bit of a sweeping statement I know but trying to use as few words as possible. I am pretty much a live and let live type of person, if I have to travel miles on tick over don't really bother me on a personal level, but do understand why it can be a bit annoying for some.also I tend to moor in the countryside so do not have a problem with visitors moorings always being full, but again can understand why some folks get annoyed. But this could all change if all of a sudden loads of boats poured out of marinas to take towpath moorings if C&RT did nothing. So my question is how would manage moorers if you where C&RT
  17. Not judging this at all thank you for responding as I said just a shame the chappie with a chip on his shoulder had to get involved could have come across much better without the insults and threats just hope it gets sorted properley
  18. Just wondered if anyone has mentioned if the boat in question had been spotted by a patrol officer whilst away from its mooring . Would this mean if it had been spotted each previous year even if it didn't need a licence where it moored the boat should have been licenced . Not liverboard surely you would go for a trip in it . Also with the owner saying it was up for sale is this what made ca&t swing into action . Would have liked to see a full video without the bloke that wanted to arrest a policeman don't think he did anyone any favours . Do you also think courts would except the sold and rebought story without relevant registration document or would it just seem a way of the owner trying to lose a couple of years off the owing licence .
  19. Really don't want to watch the video again but thought at one point he said they hadn't received anything from c&rt but then produced a licence form as proof of ownership
  20. Cheers Steve for that much appreciated Sunday morning job then at least it will make me not do my usual Sunday slob day
  21. Right before I explain how much of an idiot I am I thought for any else with problems I should say . The bleck relay is for the glow plugs, the white well its actualy silver but flash makes it look white is for the engine stop and the green as I knew is for the starter motor. I have spent days testing circuits with no luck whatsoever disconnecting the main engine electrical multi wire connector and making sure each wire had continuity up to the ignition, I even had an electrical bloke have a look nothing really at the end of my patience. This morning I decided to unwrap the wire tidy stuff so I could get the multi plug higher up to have a proper look and lo and behold when I reconnected it, the engine fired up, what it basicaly was when I disconnected the plug and bent it up it the wire must have connected where its broke showing a circuit but when I plugged it back in the broke wire disconnected itself.could really kick my self the amount of time I have wasted. Still not technicaly fixed as I have no idea, if or how the multi plug comes to bits, I have removed 2 small screws that hold a small clamp on but really dont want to risk damaging any more wires , I have took a couple of photos any help again would be really appreciated.
  22. Each white wire has a colour stripe . bit more messing earlier but still no luck a few more things to try Saturday . Keep having to go to work how selfish of them I got a boat to fix
  23. Also do not drink if your going to stop in a layby drunk in charge of a vehicle and obviously if your told to move off you can't
