I think it depends on your batteries rather than your pump ! our household ch pump often runs 24/7 we have been here 11 years so far, without problems, the pump on the boat is an Aldi unit on the ch boiler which also runs the water around which is heated by the back boiler, this also runs 24/7 during the heating season without problem.
The only thing I have found with back boilers is a build up of air in the system, which if left unvented could be a problem.

Only a 100a but he may be able to source what you require.
I think Richard Hammond from top gear proved that it was safe in a car when he sat in a VW Golf (I think) inside an electrical discharge facility, it was shown on Top Gear about two years ago.

Does not give cost, but does give phone number to ring.
We have been on the Thames this last week, on a Gold licence, we have the "normal" display of the boat name on a narrowboat (either side on the back panel) no comment from either the lock keepers or the patrol boat that we passed near Reading, I think the requirement for boat names at the front is only applicable to boats whose home mooring is on the river (& registered by the Environment Agency), not to those boats visiting from other waterways.
Overheating ? As its a Cabin cruiser is it keel cooled or raw water cooled ? if raw water, may just be weed/mud blocking the intake, should be a "mud box" in the inlet somewhere which you can clear out, & restore proper cooling.
How many gears you got then ??
On a more serious note, try taking the cable off the gearbox end & engaging gear manually, in case the new cable is incorrectly adjusted & not allowing the gear to fully engage.

I have the same engine, I use 1100 revs if I am stationary which gives me 64 ish amps to the batteries if they are discharged to 60%, I feel though that the cable from the alternator is a little bit small at 16mm sq. Hope this helps. Alf
I suppose the ice thickness is relative, it was about 1/2 inch thick by the island, but mostly clear elsewhere, the pump out mooring & entrance were free of ice so shouldnt be a problem getting in from the cut.
