I think it is being led by a few Hire Boat companies,Marina owners,boat club Commodores and owners of nice homes next to the canal.These people don't want their fantasies and idealised view of the Cut being destroyed by tramp boats lined up in their domain.Most regular boaters don't give a damn,I know I didn't.I have been actively and noisily putting my views about roving permits and zoning to CRT for some time now,I posted on this forum last year on this idea and it was shunned by most.

This as been written so even I can understand it,unfortunately it looks like CRT can't add up.

I use a synthetic enamel in a silk finish above the top rubbing strake and along the gunnels it is extremely hard wearing and does not look like hull blacking.Have a look at my blog for some piccies.

Much as I dislike bringing my current situation onto the forum, after some of the posts made on here I think I must.After 13 years we have had to leave our mooring with 7 days notice.This is where I built my boats,where I cared for my wife while she had cancer treatment,where my son grew up.This is the area where we have good GPs and Jimmys(Leeds Hospital)where my wife is looked after.We have lost a place to build my boats,park my van and be able to walk into town all because of the whim of one man.Skipton has lost an Historical Wharf because of the stupidity of one man.So where does this leave us?CCing around the system?Where would the money come from to buy the diesel,buy spare parts or pay for a new gearbox?We are not retired on a private pension or private income.There is one marina in this vicinity and few online moorings and yes we have applied but with very little feedback.The marina is out of the area for my wife's doctor and Leeds Hospital and we are not changing those.My physical illness precludes using a pedal bike to go and get my van,if you could find a secure place to park it.My feet are sore with walking because of the detached ligaments in my ankles.My back is crippled with un healing fractures caused by osteoporis.The boat is my life FECKIN TELL ME HOW I USE THE CANAL SYSTEM FOR THE BENEFIT OF A CHARITY AND BEFORE ANYONE POSTS COMMENTS SUCH AS LEAVE THE CANAL AND GET A HOUSE ON AN ESTATE OR TERRACED ROW,BEEN THERE DONE THAT!NOW FECK OFF!

I have had to live on the boat I was fitting out several times.Got the rear cabin finished then the bathroom and moved onto the galley.It isn't easy and sometimes got into my bunk with oak splinters for company,oak splinters was not the best of bed mates.It is doable but not advisable,you will soon get sick of it.

Have you given any thought to using Rock wool,the slab type.

Thats why it has camoflauge

Get a twin wall chimney and pack rock wool between the inner and outer walls,this will stop condensation and tar running down.

If you had kept them you would have been very helpful come the Boaters Revolution.

It's probably too late to do anything with the oak faced ply.The ply itself is probably damaged too if the water ingress as being going on for a while.This will mean you will have to replace the area with new.
