  1. Starry, brill as usual. You really should put all these "lists" in a book - I'd buy it
  2. Andy are you trying the guy we talked about ? They do shut down for 2 weeks but unsure of the dates but I have his mobile if you need it.
  3. Andy, as you know I have the central door with a hatch. I very rarely open the hatch to come in and out and usually only had one door open when coming in/out. In good weather I have both doors open and think that the central configuration helps with the through draft. I agree with all thats been said about the step down outside regarding water pooling but also I think it can be a bit of a hazard if socialising on the back deck.
  4. Since moving on the boat I have debating whether or not to take the plunge so to speak and go back to Sky. So Sat dish installed and using my old Sky + box I went to purchase my subscription on line today. Whilst looking, up popped the "on line chat help" and although I had decided which package I wanted I did ask a few questions. Despite previous encounters with them where they couldn't answer my questions I did get through to a very helpful chap. I explained the boat issue, no landline etc and the subscription I wanted...... to my surprise he gave a 50% discount on the subscription, £25 of M&S vouchers and a new Sky box all for £10.75 a month - bargain especially as I was just about to purchase a newer box on ebay for £70. One very happy Sky watching boater.......

  8. I think there needs to be some distinction here. In its heyday Liverpool boats did just churn out loads of boats, now though it has changed hands and passed to Alam and Anne. They produce less boats them their Dad did. IMO having read info about Liverpool boats I still went to see what they could offer me ( I visited many boat yards) I liked what Alan said, I loved that I could choose things and I did think they made the things I wanted. Folks have said they bought sailaways so can comment on interior work. I bought a fully fitted boat< interior is fab. I did choose so many things and I live on a Marina that sell Collingwood boats but they are not like mine. Looking at other folks boats I am still very happy i choose this builder and the fully fitted option, I do know where all the electric and water pipework are so Im happy with tat too.
  9. Hi, another very happy Liverpool (Collingwood now) boat owner. Mine is a 60x10 as well and I too bought it directly from the builder so got a great price and was able to choose what I wanted. I have had excellent service from them and they have even employed a guy now that deals specifically with warranty issues. I would highly recommend them and I was given the mobile numbers for the owner and the warranty guys so no hassle. Mine was fully fitted and the internal work is great too. I did include extra things and even when I changed my mind over something quite big - decided on a second bedroom they were happy to do the adjustments. Even small details like how I wanted the curtains fitted were all listened to and accomodated. I wouldn't ignore them and if I was buying again in the future I would choose them again.

  13. Hi and welcome to the forum. Liverpool Boats has stopped trading as you say but his son has set up another company and I purchased one of their boats about a year and a half ago. if you want their details and the son's mobile pm me. I have a full manual should you wish to copy anything, I'm sure not much has changed. Louise
  14. They are stunning.... especially like the "friendship" one. Good luck.
  15. Absolutely lovely, well done it looks brilliant.
  16. I'm in the Lincoln area on either the 4th or 5th of June and would be happy to help if you can wait that long. I too have been following your Dads adventures and applaud his achievements. Louise
  17. Congratulations. I take it that it's Socksy Boy. Fingers crossed for Thursday.
  18. Thats a lovely job, especially like the rings around the mushrooms.
  19. Made me laugh Bizzard. Images of a boat with numerous chimneys on the roof and discussions about which one is best suited for the next bridge - could be the start of a new game whilst cruising.
  20. Lucky escape............. Good luck with repainting
  21. As someone who has lived just outside Polesworth and recently left Taworth last year, I too can recommend the Indian above the pub in Polesworth and the Chippy. Heading towards Tamworth "The Gate" at Amington (was my local) and at Hopwas the Tame Otter has good beers and food. Lovely trip, enjoy yourself Louise
  22. My Ex lived on a narrowboat and I loved spending time on it. So with a month to go before my wedding and on my hen night I realised I didnt want to get married and cancelled it. I then over the next few weeks decided to move jobs and to sell the house. Luckily was headhunted for a job I loved and the house sold in 4 weeks. Sold most of the furniture that had filled my 4 bed house, bought a flat for my son to live in and ordered the boat. Boat delivered Jan 2012 so spent that month moving onto the boat and settling son into flat. Most of my friends and family thought I was having some sort of crisis and was decending into maddness as they believed I had made all those decisions too quickly but they were the best decisions I had made in a long while. So a year on I am very happy with my life afloat, my job is fab and the kids are sorted.
  23. Well lets hope that continues... will be funny to see what he says when the Canada geese come calling
