  4. I took engine keys off 2 boats 1 party at Thrupp last year as they had lots of complaints against them. They were told to vacate the boat and had to make their own way back to Heyford to get their cars.

  6. They man two locks one north and one south of their base.
  7. Just got 2 from local motor factors. Both Continental 11.9 x 950 id 27639 and 6 pk 1005 4433794 I had trouble with the pk belt, had to strip the bracket down on the starter alternator so brought one 5mm bigger
  8. Can we blame you for all the problems. Come down to Oxford and sit on the bottom with me and I will buy you a pint
  9. Radio 2 had a crt spokesman saying that all the paddles had been left up by a boater going through. He implied that it was quite a few locks.
  10. He does not watch tv either so no licence. Funny myself and 2 sons do not have or watch tv and my ex and daughter watch all the tv they can and have hours of recorded programmes waiting to watch.
  11. Because I had one for my boat, but did not renew it when I ditched the tv as I never watched it, prefer the radio instead. So I am still on file after about 5 yrs
  12. I do as it is my sons address and do not want him to get involved if they start wanting to turn up at 'my address'
  13. Have moved on from the moorings where I received the letter. I do get contacted at my land address every 2 years at get asked the same questions about why I do not have a tv. And it is always settled with ' we believe you this time but will review it in 2 years time'
  14. They can only get on board or in any premise with an invite or court order. I will not be inviting them in.
  15. No only the threat of legal action and they would review my case every 2 years. The letter today makes me think it is the start of a towpath campaign
  16. Yes they backed off several years ago when I told them I would be taking legal advice about harassment. I was getting letters and phone calls every week for months.
  17. Letter is in the bin already. It is a light hearted post about who is the highest authority.
  18. The letter was addressed to the legal owner not to me personally, so presume it might be a towpath campaign that they are starting as I am on the first mooring at the start/end of a canal. I have had many letters and run ins with the tv authorities who do not believe that in this day and age I do not watch tv.
  19. Got back to my boat today to find a letter delivered by hand from the TV licence authority. Basically it warned me that I could be watching tv illegally and that I was to make my premises available for inspection from the 25th July. My problem is that I am on a 2 day visitor mooring, have already overstayed due to mechanical problems, have told Crt, so if I move and the tv people can't find me will I be in trouble with them or if I stay I will be in trouble with CRT. I do not have a tv nor do I watch tv online so have no worries about the licence. Who has the higher authority Crt or the tv licence people?
  20. Could be using the water for landscaping, watering newly laid turf. Twyford might not realise water is being extracted and are trying to keep levels up.
  21. I did look at a John White boat when I was buying 6 years ago and if I remember correctly I turn it down as the fit out was all veneered chipboard.
  22. Stay on your boat 4 days then cruise for 3 days then back to your mooring.
  23. Plenty of water, a length of thin ply, 4mm, cut to fit through your inspection hatch and give the bottom of the tank a good scraping whist pumping out through the toilet bowl or inspection hatch. Not as bad as it sounds.
  24. I had a long term finger mooring next to a boat with a hurricane fitted and it was very noisy, even when I removed my hearing aids.
